Ack! 10 days until my surgery.

I feel like there's so much to do to get prepared. And 10 days seems so... soon. I've been researching this procedure and doing all the testing and paperwork for over a year now. Yet still, as the day approaches, I am finding that I'm a bit anxious. Don't get me wrong. I'm very excited about beginning to get my health back. But, in the back of my mind, I do worry about surgical complications. How did you all get your mind off the worrying? P.S. I'm not thinking of backing out or anything. This is the right decision for me. But I am fully aware of the magnitude of what I'm about to have done and am currently feeling a little overwhelmed.

DEAR LARA, YOU ARE NORMAL, NORMAL, NORMAL. I`M SURE EVERYBODY HAS SOME UNEASY FEELING ABOUT ANY MAJOR SURGERY. ME, INCLUDED. I`M HAVING OPEN VBG ON TUESDAY 9-16-03, MY MAJOR FEELING IS JOY BUT I`M HUMAN, I THINK ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN BUT I REFUSE TO DWELL ON THAT THOUGHT. I KNOW I WILL MAKE IT THROUGH JUST FINE, AND I`M SURE YOU WILL TO. I WISH YOU THE BEST THAT LIFE AND HEAVEN HAVE TO OFFER YOU, ON YOUR JOURNEY TO THE LOSING SIDE. LOVE, ELAINE

I just did all my pre-op testing and the dietary consult yesterday. I'm apparently good to go! Then I went and met with my therapist, who I've been seeing since last October to try to fully prepare for the big ole changes coming. She was great. Very much behind me and reassuring me that I've done the homework and all that I can to prepare. Good luck to you, too! See you on the losing side.
