I had the VBG in 2005 and I lost 134lbs and I was happy with the surgery. I maintained the weight loss and now I am gaining weight back. I have gained 30lbs and I am depressed.....I am back at the gym hard and cutting back on my calories. I want to know what my calorie intake should be.
I had the VBG in 2004 and keep track of my calories once and awhile. I find myself quite comfortably satisfied with 1100 to 1400 calories a day. It depends on my activity level as well. I do work out and run regularly. Many bariatric patients who gain some weight back do so because we tend to slip slightly into old habits. Remember to watch your portions of 3/4 cup to 1 cup of food total per meal, and no "grazing" between meals. Make snacks very small but healthy and satisfying. Don't get down on yourself. You have the right attitude of stopping this minor setback before it becomes a runaway train. We all have a bounce in weight once in awhile, but with your determination of maintaining this long and knowing what to do about it, you'll be back to your comfortable weight again soon! Keep your chin up! We're here for you if you need to talk!
