veterans I need help

Okay update first: Surgery on the 17th of this month (11 days ago) 13 lbs lost since surgery, 13 before so a total of 26. People are starting to notice
: ) Hopefully in the next couple of weeks  I'll be under 200!!!!
I start mushies on wednesday! I'm nervous bc obviously I haven't thrown up on liquids but food is a whole other world! What goes does easy or isn't as stressful? Advice from you guys with the experience behind you would be so appreciated!

Aren't you in the wrong forum?  Didn't you have VSG"?  Might help to copy/paste this there :)
We had surgery the same day so I dunno but I understand your timidation!  My surgeons instructions don't have me on mushies yet.  So I can't really help with that....  but one thing I wanted to say is if you don't feel ready, why ru****  My surgeon said the phases can be extended.  :)

(Lost slowly and painfully from 355 to 275 from 2007-2009, then started gaining again before scheduling surgery!  Best thing I ever did! :D)

 did realize i did that! i went to the vsg one today and couldnt figure out where my post was! haha

I did one week of clear liquids after op and then 2 more of just liquids. I didn't star any mush until the end of my 3rd week. I found a mango carrot apple jar of baby food that was not only very good but very easy to sallow. I'm coming closer to my 5Th week and I'm still blending my chicken into a small paste.  Some people do well with cottage cheese. Just don't be on a hurry and extend your phases for as long as you need to and you'll be alright!

Lindsay, careful about the advice you get here because a lot of wls patients follow a different eating protocal than Dr. Walton's. Baby food won't work for you unless it is protein (without cereal filler). The other eating plans aren't bad, but you need to be careful that you aren't trying to mix and match from several different plans. Some of them count grams of protein, carbs, calories, etc. All we do is measure our protein and eventually our fruits & veggies.

Fatfree refried beans with some tabasco sauce, cottage cheese, scrambled egg with some cottage cheese, and some chicken or tuna chopped up in the food processor with some mayo all worked for me in the begging. Take really small bites. If you start having hiccups, develop a drippy nose, or feeling saliva build up, stop eating; wait a few minutes and take another bite. Don't think you have to eat the entire 1/4 cup. I wasn't able to do that for several days. Let me know how you're doing. Have yyou and your mother read the information the nutrionist gave you at your seminar? Since she is cooking for you, it is important that she also knows what is approved.
