 Dear OH Members,

After WLS, alcohol can affect you twice as much as it did when you were a pre-op.  OH Magazine/Newsletter would like to learn your prospective and hear about some of your personal expierences.  How has alcohol affected your post-op weight loss and your ability to consume even small amounts? You can post here or email me privately if you wish to remain anonymous.  [email protected]
All my best,

Hi Tammy,  As a former beer drinker, I no longer consume it because the effects are painful. I've tried even a small amount on an empty stomach and no matter how you slice it, beer shooting out of your nose while vomiting foam is not pretty!  I have now switched to wine, which i did love before as well. I am good with 2 glasses of wine in a about 1-1/2  to 2 hour period, but any more than that, and I am walking home. I've become much more aware of my tolerances. Contribute it to common sense, age, intelligence, or whatever, I refuse to put any more than that into my body at any given time. It's just not worth it for me or anyone else.

Yep, drunk in a minute after one rum & diet coke - effects are bliss, if you have an addictive personality, no ill effects except you sober quickly and want MORE.  It is alcoholism in substitue for fat.
