Topic: REPOST: RVA Graduates Support Group
I wanted to inform the locals in Richmond (or any other surrounding area residents willing to travel) that I have started up a weight loss support group for 3 years+ post-op graduates with our esteemed Mary D. by my side. I’m hosting the group through www.meetup.com. The group can be found at http://www.meetup.com/RVAWLSGrads. Please contact me privately if you are unfamiliar with Meetup and need help accessing the site, setting up a profile and joining the group.
Meetup is JUST what it sounds, a place where interest groups join together and create “meetups", aka events, to join together with like minded individuals. I’m an Asst-Organizer for two other groups on Meetup and find it to be a wonderful way to network locally and meet new people.
Mary and I have discussed for years that there was a lacking need in the Richmond area for a support group geared for long term post op and the struggles we have as compared to pre-surgery or newly post op patients. I hope to see a great response and to begin, I will be hosting the support group out of my home. As we get our membership numbers up, we will be offering all kinds of different meetups to include other meeting locations around Richmond, group exercise activities, social time on the town for eats, coffee, etc. ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME. The first meeting will be held Wednesday May 25th at 630pm. SO CONTACT ME TO GET INVOLVED!

it was very informative. i went in thinking 'no matter what they say im getting the lapband' to leaving thinking 'hmm, idk anymore' lol. decided finally on the sleeve. my orientation was in jan. feb i did all my appts/labs, march-april some stuff went down with the military pay so my surgery date was delayed. may 2nd appt with Dr Mann and surgery scheduled for June 1st. it's been been a Jan 13th- Jun 1st process. No difficulty so far besides waiting for my day. tomorrow i start my 2 week preop diet so im sure my difficulty answer my change =] Dr. Mann is great. he's nice. straight to the point. tells yu the real. i'll be praying over his hands for surgery! he's the only one who does the sleeve there so he's in high demand. basically, here's how it went: orientation, labs, ekg/chest xrays, nutritionist, pysch, intial meeting with him, they called for my next appt which was decision/surgery date. anymore questions just ask! What part of VA are yu in? how was the orientation?

hope you are doing well. My surgery is May 25 and I start all liquid diet tomorrow. I am excited and anxious. I just signed up for this website and I was trying to find someone to talk to.. my family, trying to explain what is going on is getting lost in translation. I really just wanted someone to talk to and to support and get support in return. I feel lost right now and I don't know why.. thanks for reading this.. have a nice evening..

Topic: c'ville area and frustrated w/ support group
I am frustrated with my hospital's support group. Anyone in this area interested in meeting for support of one another? I had bypass in January.
