Has anyone heard of Dr. Joseph McPhee out of Portsmouth, VA?  He just moved his practice to Lancaster, PA.  He replace the idiot who did my surgery(The idiot was fired).  I would like to know the good, the bad, and the ugly before I go for a follow up visit.  I never went back to the original because of all the crap he pulled.

Caroline,
My surgery is scheduled with Dr. Halmi June 20 at Fair Oaks Inova.  Pam at Blue Point is great..and thr other office staff was very promt and effcient.  My insurance approval came back in a week.  I like the Blue Point Fair Oaks office better..Woodbridge office I found they were just to busy..and not as personable.  However, both surgeons are well respected....and experienced.

Hi!

Sorry I am so late to reply. I have been sick with an intestinal infection (UGGHH). I would love to chat with you. I had my surgery 10 years ago and really did not have any support. i did not feel I needed much as I have a supportive husband and I was ok. I now realize how important it is to have someone who can "relate" to our unique situation. As odd as it sounds, I would love to have someone to speak to who is "like me". I am doing fairly well. I have had some vitamin issues but I am working on those. The only set back I have had recently has been the intestinal infection which was not due to the bypass but it has been mad complicated by it.  I am 36 years old and I have 3 teenagers (2 at home).  It must be such a blessing to be able to relate to your daughter about your bypass.  I would love to keep in touch. Have a great day!!

Yes, without a doubt, I would do this again. It has impacted my life in a million little ways. The real vicories are the small things that you don't even realize your obesity is affecting. It is climbing multiple flights of stairs without a second thought, or stopping for a beath. It's getting up and down from the floor with ease. Its fitting into seats, and having plenty of room left over! It is getting to the end of the day in heels and realizing that your knees and ankles don't hurt! I wish I had thought about this years ago. I never even realized it was a possibility. Once I decided to look into it, it happened really fast. I'm glad. I didn't have the time to talk or "reason" my way out of it. So far, it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I will say though, that unless you are 100% committed to making the changes you MUST make, you shouldn't do it. If you really are ready adopt a new lifestyle, then go for it!
