Dr. Spencer is my Dr. He is great. very straight forward. when I went into my first meeting with him i was alittle nervous but shortly after talking to him i felt more comfortable. he is a bit monotone and very professional but he is straight forward and he answers every question you ask no matter what. He pretty much explains all the surgeries to you and how they would benefit you with your lifstyle, and yall will decide on what your doing and he will answer questions. after that he takes you to his schedular and you schedule your nutrition appts, etc. so you can get approval from insurance. I am on the last part of my appts to get my surgery date so my last nutrition appt is oct 11 th and then i get my date for RNY!!! You will like Dr. Spencer and good luck with everything!

Topic: The hardest part- the pre op diet
Well 11 more days until my surgery. I think I am doing better than I thought I would, but it sure is hard. The first day... it was cake.. well that is because it is so new. The second day was fine, but damn- my husband decided he was going to cook dinner for him, a friend and our kids. Why is that when someelse cooks it smells better?? From that day I decided to just cook and I think that is working. My slip up was yesterday when I was making garlic rolls to go with the lasgna and when you pull a roll a part and it has that little sliver of bread. Without thinking I popped into my mouth. I was like OMG! Today was better. Drinking my protein drink while making meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and corn (and meatballs to freeze for spaghetti another day) No mistakes. And now while they are enjoying the meal... I am eating my SF jello and I feel satisfied. I even had to run a mini plate to my neighbor to see if anything was lacking (i.e. more salt or butter to poatatoes) Tomorrow is my pre-op appointment and I hope all goes well. :D
Topic: RE: Eric Pinnar Moved to FL????
Eric Pinnar also performed my surgery in 2009, I too was self pay. My adjustment period has since expired, though I had wished to continue to go to AWLS.
After discovering the practice had been sold and that everything essentially has fallen apart at their office since, I have been trying to locate an office that will accept Pinnars patients as well as get copies of medical records.
I was hopeful when I received an email that Phil was trying to open a place to help patients with adjustments, but have since learned that it appears Dr. Mercia (sp?) - Sleep Heart/Afterband threatened legal action if Phil continued.
I filed a complaint since no one would bother to respond to my requests for records and Afterband essentially told me "that if I didn't want to be treated at their office, then they didn't have my records." I've since received bits and pieces of my records.
I contacted Robert Pinnar's office in hopes of being able to be adjusted there. I emailed the information they requested a few weeks ago. I've yet to hear back.
This morning I contacted Bluepoint Surgical Group and now have an appointment for next month (which is alot better that the pile of nothing I had previously).
It was refreshing to hear understanding from the kind lady I spoke to about getting fills/care at Bluepoint's office (very much unlike Robert Pinnars office).
So I guess I'll see how this goes. I'm with everyone else in their disappointment and feeling of abandonment caused by the way we were all dropped by E. Pinnar without any real means to get care.
