“You're having dinner with friends who cook delicious, yet calorie heavy, meals. Here's how to eat guiltless gourmet.”
Just because you're watching what you eat doesn't mean the rest of the world (or even your family) is in sync. When you have to eat at a friend or family member's home, we all know it's not always easy to just say no at the risk of hurt feelings or, at the very least, being the center of attention. If you're served a plate of food where you don't choose what's on it, size it up before you start eating. What would be the best choices that keep you on target? How much food is really there? You may decide to only have one bite of the mac n' cheese and just half of the potato salad. Whatever you plan, eat slowly. Talk between bites. Put your folk down. Make your meal last as long as everyone else's. This way, you won't feel the need for seconds, and if you have food left when everyone else is done, people will be less likely to even notice.
I do, I live at the end of Orchard Drive. I hope everything is going great for you. I don't regret my surgery at all.
Hi, I live on the Patrick Henry County Line Rd near Patrick Henry Fire Department. I had my surgery March of last year and have now lost 150lbs. I do hope every thing goes great for you. :)
“You were doing so well, but then? Here's how to deal with now.”
You had a weekend with the girls and totally blew your diet. Now you're feeling like a failure and wonder why you should even try again. Get over it! We all blow it sometimes. Say, -Wow, that was a good time- and move on. Life isn't all diets and exercise. If you are -being good- the majority of the time and moving toward your health and fitness goals, a little bump in the road isn't going to stop that.
“You want to eat right but you just get so hungry. Here's how to feed the need.”
Dieting shouldn't mean you are starving yourself. Eating well means that you are fueling your body regularly with good foods. You need to watch portions but if you are truly hungry then it's time to eat. Just make sure you're grabbing a healthy snack. Waiting too long to eat can result in overeating, so plan healthy snacks ahead of time so when hunger strikes, you are ready.
“Certain times of the year you just feel less motivated to stay in shape. Here's how to go for the gold.”
Holidays and bad weather are just two of the go-to excuses to avoid working out this time of year. If you feel yourself giving into the temptation of skipping your workout and not eating as well as you should, it's time to set a goal. What would you be amazed at if you accomplished it? A 5K, triathlon, or maybe the Boston (or any other city) marathon? Find a goal that will push your limits. Doing something to raise money for a charity or having someone else to share it with can help you be accountable for the goal too. Find a purpose and find your motivation.
Hello Ms. Bullock
I was recently referred to Dr. Datta by my pcp for WLS. I have been trying to find/ research his credentials and all I have been able to find is that he is a general surgeon. Do you have any insight that you could share with me? I am very nervous about the procedure and trying to make sure I am in capable hands of a physician that has performed this type of surgery previously and not just "getting his feet wet" in the field.
Thank you
