A lot of times the stalls happen when our bosies are trying to adjust.  I wonder though if perhaps you are in starvation mode.  Check with your nutritionist to see if you are getting in enough calories per day based on what you burn, if you aren't getting in enough caloreis then your body is hoarding what it is getting.  Perhaps our Dr. friend can give us a ball park figure on calorie intake at 4+ years out......

Good Afternoon all!  How are you today?  I am okay.  Been a busy and slightly stressful week.  Nothing too major and I am surviving.  So I am down a couple of lbs but not a lot.  I will jsut keep admitting that I don't get my fluids in, & I don't get my exericse in.  Got to really push myself to get some changes going on here as it is not going to come off on it's own and I will do no good for support with anyone else if I can't support myself.

Yesterday's results
cuppas in
48 oz fluids
B - protein drink
S - banan & granola bar
L - sesame chicken
S - popcorn
D - pizza

Today's plan:
cuppas & protein in
16 oz water so far
B - yogurt & whole grain english muffin
S - carrots
L - kids size burger w/tomato, onion minus 1/2 bun & a few french fries
S - crackers
D - not sure yet

Beth you are doing things like you should and like some have said up your water and protein and it will help. Another thing change the way that you excercise do different things and not get into a strict routine. Change things up helps also. Keep up the good work you will get there.

Topic: RE: Real Hunger??
Hunger between meals after RNY GB can be due to a number of reasons.  First thing to rule out is eating high-glycemic-index foods (crackers, chips, pasta, sugar etc) which are absorbed quickly & cause insulin swings, then patients bottom out & become hypoglycemic an hour later.

Second, make sure you're not drinking with meal or within an hour after meal, as that can wash solid food downstream and result in early hunger.

If those aren't the reason, try "water loading."  This is useful 6 or more months after RNY, if the stoma (pouch connection to Roux limb) becomes slightly dilated, causing pouch to empty too quickly.  To remedy this, drink 1/2 to 1 cup water (not Crystal Lite, tea or other liqs) RIGHT BEFORE mealtime.  It results in opposite of dumping: Roux limb doesn't like dilute liquid, it swells, and acts as valve to slow food that follows.  See details at:

http://www.amylhwilliams.com/pouchrulesfordummies.html

I don't agree with everything on this webpage, but basic concept works (original formulation by Ed Mason, inventor of the RNY GB in the 60's).  Key is to NOT drink with meals OR 1.5 hrs after meal, then start hydration and drink a lot of WATER leading up to each meal.  Works for most RNY patients with early hunger

i thought i was doing everything i should be.  eating healthy    smaller amounts  drinking water  and working out like a crazy woman.. lol     if i recall when i first lost the weight after my surgery 4 years ago i got stuck at this same weight im at now.. and probably gave up and here i am all over again,  .. but this time i wont give up.. i keep telling myself keep doing what im doing and weight will come off.. so why does it stay on when im doing everything im suppose too... im under calories.. i burn sometimes 500 to 900 calories a day just doing cardio..   ive been told drink more protein.. drink more water... but will these things really help me get over my stuck phase?    very frustrating..

id like to know this answer too.. dawn i too was a big time grazer.. whether it was wheat thins or whatever i was always eating its why i never went down anymore in weight i got stuck at a weight for 3 years.. and i rarely ever drank water until i finally got on track.. i dont drink as much as you but maybe 75 oz.   i use to drink alot of diet coke... with my meals...   i dont even drink now with my meals like we are suppose too now..
i dont think i get that hunger pain that i use too...    i just tell myself in a few hours i can eat or drink a protein drink.. working out helps me alot.. because i dont want to snack or ill screw up my day with having gone to the gym...    so id like to know this answer about taking in enough calories because there are days im way under.. if you put in my calories burned ..  i think if i dont take in enough calories my body doesnt want to let go of weight.. i dont know ... its frustrating   lol

before i got "back on track" and am now "on track" ..i was a grazer.  i would have something in my mouth every hour or more ..it wasnt always bad snacking, but none-the-less, it was snacking.  grazing. i know now that i wasnt drinking enough..all that time it was more than likely thirst.  hind sight is always 20-20

however, now that im on track and drinking as i shouldve always been, eating as i shouldve always been eating, i feel like im hungry every 2 hours.  i am following the 30 minute rule and always eating my protein first, then i wait 30 minutes before beginning to drink again, but it seems to never fail that i feel that pang again ..am i hungry? i cant be, can i??  am i drinking too much (100 to 130 oz/day)? am i not waiting long enough or am i not getting enough calories in?  when i sit down to eat, i eat for 15 minutes, then discard anything i didnt finish.  most of the time, i cant make it to the 15 minutes before im full.

any suggestions?  any advice??

any help would be appreciated.
