Hey Dawn,
I'm a few days late on this one, and haven't been active on the board for a while but thought I'd respnd to your post cause it hits a nerve with me too. I still struggle some 4 years post-op but what help me get my head around a shrinking me and abetter personal self image was first: before and after pictures. Pictures don't lie and I had a hard time beliveing what I was seeing and that it is what I look like to others. Second, at a OH WLS confernce we had a 50s theme dance one night and I changed into my greaser guy attire in the restroom of the hotel. While slicking mt hair back and my t-shirt sleeves rolled up, I accidently spent time infront of a miror and had a misty moment ands self revelation,...it was me I was looking at in the mirror and It wasn't fat. I was focused on getting the hair right and with some time started seeing me instead of the hair otr what I thought I looked like. I'd recommend some serious private mirror time, maybe do some dressing up, but spend some time see who you are now.
And don't bother about people telling you thatyou are too skinny. Probably the same ones that told you that you were getting too big. You do what makes you feel good. You did this surgery to enlong your life and improve your quality of living. That means new menu, new activity, new clothes, new friends, new attitudes. Your real friend will hang with you. The ones that like you because you were no threat or competition, or your good looks didn't intimidate them,...they'll move on to other safe friends.
Good luck in your continues success. Peeked at your photos and you look great. Congrats on the graduating daughter. They both like like their Mom.

P.S. I was carrying a 80lb bag of quikcrete across my back yard last weekend and thought how I'd like to go jogging with that. Then I realized, I use to carry two of them around all the time before WLS (RNY). Whoa!

Topic: RE: Some VA Buddies??
HI, I'm not so sure where Annandale is. I leved in Virginia years ago, and am in the process of reloacating to the state. I will be in the Staunton/Waynesboro area. I am almost 7 years out of surgery and am going to start looking for a support group in the area. Good luck to you as you start this wonderfully exciting journey. Let's try to keep in touch, even if we're not that close. Good luck!!

Topic: Some VA Buddies??
Hey everyone!! I had my RNY about 4 months ago, but I haven't really been on the local boards much. I live in Annandale. I would love to get to know some people who live in the DC Metro/NOVA area who understand what I am going through. Maybe we could work out together, or hang out together , or --- whatever. Is there already some sort of group that gets together (if so, can I join?) Wanna start one?? Let me know

miss court? you ok?? havent seen you around, i know the summers are busy..just thinkin' about ya! beth??...we havent gotten an update on your bloodwork and issues with your blood pressure...how are you doin??
im hangin' in there, stuck at yet another stall/plateau ...have to say, i havent been walking like i was, so thats more than likely my issue ...im still fluctuating at 185-190, but my clothes are practically fallin' off me ..i feel good.
it ended up that my hubby's trip has gotten delayed. he was supposed to fly out to the middle east on june 22, but he's in a holding pattern right now. i now rememeber why i didnt like him traveling so much other than the danger in it, but the hurry up and wait is ridiculous. so, we are taking it day by day and plan on him making it for my annual camp/family reunion trip in a couple weeks. of course when we plan on that, they'll be ready for him to go LOL
my goal was to be 175 by July 15, but i dont see that happening. i would be very pleased with 180.
please let me know how you all are doing!
take care!
-hugs-

What are you revising to? There are several DSers on the DS board that have used him that may be able to help you.
Topic: RE: Has Dr. Mitchell Krieger done your surgery??
I am 6 Years Post op . To date Dr. Krieger has done my Breast Lift , Breast Augmentation , Butt lift and repaired a part of my TT that was done by another surgeon.
There would be NO OTHER SURGEON that I would let touch my body . He works with bariatric patients and he understands our needs for protein and our nutrictional needs. He also stands behind his work .
He has worked with Dr. Lamonico in Texas as a co-writer of a book.
In my opinion .. you get what you pay for .. and I got a Million Bucks worth when I chose Dr. K .
Pics on my profile if you would like to see them .

Topic: LIFESTARTS- SNOW BALL - MEET AND GREET - SUPPORT GROUP
David Becker and I have been trying to put together yet another Snow Ball here in Richmond. Due to the property we used before up for sale, we are unable to get good pricing , so here is where we stand on the progress of the Snow Ball .
I am meeting with the Sales Department of the Holiday Inn Koger Center in Richmond this week.
Here is how we perceive the events happening.
Friday guest arrive. - Dinner at Hotel or Diner
Saturday - Breakfast at the Hotel or somewhere of your choosing.
Meet and Greet Support Group Luncheon - (Included in Ticket Price)
Before and After photos viewed and introductions
We may have a Special Speaker - I am waiting on her confirmation.
After Lunch - Free Time - There is an Indoor Pool , Shopping or Site Seeing.
Saturday night Dinner at the Tobacco Company - then back to the Hotel to their Lounge and Dance Floor called VISIONS. Drink and Dance until close or last call.
Sunday - Breakfast - (Included in ticket price) Farewell Speeches
I am currently working on getting vendors to send in samples for goodie bags.
I truly hope that you will all try to come out.
The date tentatively is the weekend of January 23rd. This may change once we meet with the hotel sales.
David Becker tried to get our old place but they are in the process of being sold and the hotel price was through the roof, and we are not paying that.
We are also asking for a Hospitality Suite for Drinks and Appetizers Saturday night before we go down dancing. And possible use afterwards for our infamamous - PJ Party .... : )
Here are the links to the hotel and the Tobacco Company if you want to check it out. I should have ticket prices and hotel information for you by Friday.
