Topic: RE: Dr. Elariny Pre Op Tests?
They knocked me out for the colonoscopy so I was oblivious. You might ask if that's what he does or whomever you get to do yours.

Topic: RE: Dr. Elariny Pre Op Tests?
Thanks Gina,
The colonoscopy is what I'm worried about the most! I didn't have a whole lot of tests done with my first surgery. Bloodwork, sleep study, psych evaluation, medical clearance from PCP and the test where you have to do a barium swallow and have x rays done. That was pretty much all of the tests I had the first time. So I'm pretty nervous about his tests.

Topic: RE: Dr. Elariny Pre Op Tests?
I know a couple of Dr Elariny's revision patients and I believe the pre-op was pretty much routine for revision or virgin surgery. Blood work, EKG, Chest X-ray, sleep study is an option if you haven't had one, cardiac clearance if required, pulmonary clearance if required, ultrasound for gallbladder, EGD, colonoscopy, psychiatric clearance, medical clearance from PCP, blood work and dexa scan if required. He gears the tests to you, but these are the ones on his script, he checks off what you need.
I hope this helps.

There's also the Staple Club that meets the second Monday every month at the Chantilly Government Center just off Westfields Blvd on Stonecroft. It's run my Dr Anez' (sp) PA / dietitian. It's open to patients of any surgeon RNY, DS and VSG folks have all attended. I've been attending for 2 years and I really like this group.

Not skinny by any means but happy by all means :)
Hey Bob, Welcome to the Board :)
There is a group that meets in Charlottesville usually once a month at UVA...called the FFP's. The previous post by prissy is in reference to that group which has a meeting scheduled for July 24th. I think they have a picnic planned for August and that would be a great place to meet a few faces. I am only a hop skip and jump from Waynesboro so welcome to the neighborhood as well :)

New back treatments are incredible. When I got off the surgical table felt the pressure had gone down. On the mend and getting better everyday. Tens unit has helped too I do not take narcotics.

Topic: looking for support groups
Hey everyone, hope someone can provide me with some information about post-op support groups.
I am almost 7 years post-op and still attend support groups at least 2x a month. I am moving to Waynesboro, VA in a couple weeks and was hoping to find a group in the area. I figure it would probably be at UVA and I am not opposed to driving to Charlottesville to attend.
Any input, schedules, locations for me? Look forward to hearing from someone soon.
Thanks,
Bob
