Topic: RE: New to Newport News, VA
Hi Jillian, Welcome to VA. I'm not sure of any support groups where you are but I am sure there is since there is a surgeons office in Newport News I was going to go to a long time ago. It's the Weight Loss Surgery center of Hampton Roads and there phone number is (757) 947-3170. You could give them a call and find out about a support group. I myself have not had surgery but I have a so called date of the first Monday in March could change sooner depending. I am in VB which is about 30-60 min. from you depending on traffic because that tunnel traffic can be a real pain lol. I attend a support group here on the second thursday of every month. I also have a membership to the YMCA which I don't use like I should but hopefully after surgery I will live there lol. Take care,Kerry
Topic: New to Newport News, VA
Hey Ya'll. I am looking for support groups near Newport News, VA. My husband is in the Air Force and we just moved here from Boston, MA. I have yet to really get out since I have been here so I would love some recommended support groups so I can meet some new people. Also I would be interested in a gym partner if there is someone out there who wants to go with me. Any suggestions would be great being new to an area where you don't know anyone kind of sux and it's my first time away from home. It is sooo awkward to me to meet new people.
Thanks for listening.
Jillian

Topic: Dr, Elariny and insurance
A little while ago I was told that he was NOT in network so I began to look elsewhere. Not wanting to just settle for a DR. becauese he was in network I decided to look elsewere for a "vetted DS surgeon" and had decided to go to Dr Ungson in MX. Yesterday, I call his office..to just ask some questions and low and behold the receptionist said they ARE in network with my insurance. I called my insurance and they said yep he is now.
Needless to say I am set up for his seminar ;) The neg to this is I was mentally prepared for this to happen on my timeline... so not it will be insurance hoops. I must admit it is more comforting that considering the complication of the procedure that may be able to have it in the US closer to home. I am certain they will deny me initially because my BMI is only 40 but I have a few comorbilities and they do cover the DS.
So if anyone have some insurance pointer/experience I would greatly appreciate it. I would also love to heard about the experience others has had with Dr. Elariney and his pratice. I understand that he has a fee above what the insurance covers...can someone elaborate on how much and how it works. BTW I have BCBS Fed(Bluechoice)
Thanks

Topic: RE: Dr. Denis Halmi
Dr Halmi is AWESOME..and my lifesaver. He did my RNY almost 6 years ago. He is just as attentive and concerned of my ongoing health today as He was 6 years ago. I trust him with all my heart and would do it all over again if i had to, however, with all the education, knowledge and support I have received from his team, doesnt seem like I will ever be in the place I was 6 years ago.
He is highly recommended in my book!
Good luck. Ask ALOT of questions, He is very informative and always willing and open to questions and concerns you may have.
Take Care,
dawn
