Topic: Problems With Fingernails
I hope someone can help me. I had WLS April of last year ( 2010). I am having problems with my fingernails splitting and pealing in layers below the quick. I am taking a multi-vitamin twice a day, calcium twice a day, B-12 every other day and biotin once a day. I am having some problems , still, with getting my protiens in. Meat sometimes makes me feel nauseated and full very quickly. The last time I had labs done I was a little low on my protien levels but not by much.. I have psoriasis and I know very well that may be contributing to this problem but if anyone has any ideas/ sugestions I would appreciate it. Susan
Topic: RE: Anybody in SWVA on here?
Hi Josh, I'm Susan from Franklin County , Va. My surgery was April of last year. Just wanted you to know you aren't the only one :-D Oh in case you don't know F.C is south of Roanoke. Kinda in between Martinsville and Roa. I'm now gettting ready to have a hip replacement in Feb. The ortho doc wouldn't do it before because of my weight. I'm 49 and I figure even tho that's old to alot of people I think it's to young to have to use a walker or wheelchair. Hope your weightloss is going great and you're keeping it off.

Topic: RE: New to Newport News, VA
Hi Kerry,
I live about 15 minutes from Newport News and I am scheduled for surgery on March 14 (VGS). My Dr. is in Newport News, Dr. Clark. they are opening a new facility with a gym as well as support groups. They also carry some really good products like shakes etc. This is all so new to me, I have been there twice for consult and yesterday for fitness evaluation. Sounds like you are doing really great. Welcome to virginia

Topic: Morning Virginia! Newbie to VA Board
Hello everyone! I'm moving to Richmond in a couple of weeks. I've been in Maryland for the past decade, and occasionally post on the Maryland board, where I have made many great friends there. I got a new job in Richmond and will be starting on Valentine's Day
A bit about me - I'm a Lapbander - 2 years out and have reached goal and some. I am interested in finding out who your Lapband/GB doctor is and if you like him or her, since I do need to schedule an appointment with that doctor to transfer records, etc. For those wondering, Dr. Kuldeep Singh was my surgeon at St. Agnes Hospital.
I originally grew up in Chesterfield County - attending Salem Church Middle, Meadowbrook and Henrico High Schools, and moved to Baltimore shortly after I got done with my high school education in 1991. Regretfully, I didn't quite stay in touch with people in VA over the years so hard lesson learned.
I am moving to what everyone calls "Southside"? Richmond. I hope that there are some people in that area so that I can meet, because there is nothing like having an awesome support group who are headed towards the goal of healthy living!
I am also a Facebooker - so if you're on there, let me know!

Topic: New To the VA Board
Hello All,
I live in Leesburg, I had my RNY July 19, 2010 and my surgeon is in Frederick, MD.
I haven't been getting as much out of support group as I used to (personally I don't think they are trying as hard as they used to) and I was hoping to talk with some people in my area and so that we could learn from each other.
So far I'm on track and everything is going well. I have a wonderful husband who supports me through this journey, and we have a son who will be two in a little more than a week. I'm 29, I am at the lowest weight of my adult life and think I can still shed another 20 pounds (I'm only 6 months out). I went from a size 20W to a size 8, I work out like a feind and I low carb diet.
So that's me in a nutshell, just thought I would introduce myself and I look forward to getting to know you all.
