Topic: RE: Bluepoint - Dr. Amir Moazzez, Dr. Halmi
Hi there. I just had surgery with Dr. Halmi on March 9th. I have only good things to say about Bluepoint. I am pleased with my decision. Like you I started with another surgeon. However, I was attending Bluepoint support group. They were aware that I was having surgery with someone else and I always felt welcome. I made friends with some of his patients and sat beside Dr. Halmi a couple of times. He was very pleasant and made me feel so comfortable. When I felt the need to change surgeons-it was a no-brainer. I did not think about it I just switched to Bluepoint and so far so good. Everyone has been helpful, pleasant and supportive. Dr. Halmi's way of dealing with his patients is awesome he makes you feel so at ease. Good luck to you, you won't be disappointed with Bluepoint.

Does anyone know of a surgeon in southwestern Va that does gastric bypass? I heard Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is a Weight loss Solutions, bariatric surgery clinic, or Roanoke Memorial. Can anyone recommend a doctor at either of these locations??

let me clarify no info was told to me by the Blue point office. He moved his offce and someone at a Fair Oaks support group meeting said something.
The info on Dr Anez came directly from patients that could not get another doctor to correct their their problems. They had no choice to go back to him for the issues. I have seen his work and I was shocked at what was done.
In fact that experience made me not go to Dr Anez and I held back - looking for a well known and impeccable surgeon. That took 5 years. The other 2 Anez patients, I met in later years with similar experiences.
Now I will tell you that I do not care for this new Blue Point surgical. Dr Moazzez and his assistant Pam are wonderful.... The Bluepoint staff are Dr Halmi's creation. He has a great rep as a surgeon. Bluepoint did try to push their plastic surgeon Andrew Kriegel with discounts and he recommends a ton of plastics that I did not need. Some discount. in the end BIG BUCKS! The front desk allowed many of us to think he was another plastic surgeon with a similar name. The girl at the front desk insulted Dr Goldberg a most incredible plastic surgeon. I have seen his work ... My girlfriend has her arms done ... Goldberg is a perfectionist and she hardly has any scars...... She was told off. I chose Dr Mitchel Kreiger of Goldberg and Kreiger.
You did ask for issues, please do no be insulted. lmao unless you are Dr Anez. If you are Dr Anez you make an ass of your self at a Fair Oaks meet the surgeons, Doc Mo and Halmi looked 1st class to me. We all love our surgeons when we are loosing weight but make sure you do not have emergencies ... Mr. Mo personally called for an issue and took care of me for my gall bladder issues....
I waited along time before I found Dr Mo. A surgical nurse told me that is she had an emergency Mr Mo was the only surgeon she would consider going to hands down. I spoke with doctors that worked with him and nothing but high respect for him
Talk to the Medical community. Truly Truly go with you gut and ask everyone Go to support groups and ask them face to face.
We need people to be on here on a regular basis NON voyeours... Please be a regular and tell us what you are learning or not learning... We all need support and honestly ... This is only a tool and we all will struggle... Take care and keep in touch

Thanks. Was just wondering where you got the false information from. Dr. Anez and his "used to be partner" Dr. Halmi - now at Bluepoint - were the reasons that Fair Oaks got their COE in Bariatric Surgery. If someone is saying that Anez is no longer affiliated with Fair Oaks they are mistaken, and probably something that Dr. Anez should address on this forum. Thanks for the tip.

Just FYI, Dr. Anez is still performing sugeries at INOVA Fair Oaks. He is also performing at Reston. But his main affiliation is at Fair Oaks. Not sure who told you differently, but they were incorrect.

Dr Halmi is my surgeon and I LOVE him! I can't say enough about him and the other surgeons in the Woodbridge offie. Dr Nain did my EGD and one of my follow up appointments but Dr Halmi did my surgery.
I had the surgery at Potomac Hospital and other than a few issues with getting me a room right away - I was in recovery for 6 hours waiting for a vacant room - everything went pretty okay there.
I have had no problems with my VSG and I am so pleased with the doctors!

Dr Halmi is my surgeon and I LOVE him! He's very kind and helpful. The other surgeons in the office are fantastic too. The nutritionists Ashley and Catherine are great and always available when I have questions.
The one thing I will say about the group is that other than the front desk person, the rest of the office staff, particularly the insurance and surgery coordinators are difficult to deal with. I have some complicated insurance issues (not normal) and since they didn't know what to do, they just kept putting me off. I self paid for the surgery (VSG) and I am working with my insurance companies on my own to get reimbursed since the surgery is covered. (Very long story)
I went out of the Woodbridge office so I know nothing of the Fairfax office.

Caroline,
I saw Dr. Mo yesterday and it was awesome. I've been working with Pam and she is awesome. Dr. Mo is going to be my surgeon. I have a bunch of stuff to do but am very happy with this office. Glad to hear you are as well.
I have my gastro consult next week and sleep study fri night. The week after I have the gastro procedure, and my psych eval. 1 more visit to my primary care for 1 more weigh in and they Bluepoint will be submitting to my insurance the first week in april.
So if all goes well I might have a surgery date come the end of april. keep your fingers crossed.
