PROTIEN...How do you get yours in????
Just curious how you all get your protien in each day? Mostly by foods or suppliments? I am 2 weeks post op today and getting ready to start suppliments. I cannot drink Profect and cannot tolerate ensure...I am trying strawberry sobert unjury mix today...hopefully I will find a great one
Thanks,
Amy
Hi Amy.....
GREAT question!
I intake about 100 grams daily (was doing 125 but recently dropped a protein drink).
I get 50 grams of that from protein drinks (Protein Delite Chocolate Coconut or White chocolate Strawberry) and a Tealicious or Fuzzy Naval drink in the afternoon.
The rest comes from food. Each morning I eat cottage cheese, and then have meat for lunch and dinner. Sometimes I will even have cheese as a snack, if I feel like I'm lacking or something.
But, that's how I get mine in.
like you, I cannot stand the taste of Profect, so that was a waste for me.

I start each day with a protien shake - I like Unjury best! I have my own formula for a chocolate shake - 8 oz. skim milk, 1 pkg carnation instant breakfast no sugar added chocolate, 1/2 scoop chocolate Unjury powder, 1/2 tsp baking cocoa (this adds to the chocolate flavor and helps take some of the sweetnes out!) Mix it all up and it gives me between 25-30 grams of protein.
I have recently added some dark baking cocoa and s/f raspberry syrup to my shake - Yummy!
I also eat cottage cheese, eat meats, cheese and peanut butter to get the rest of my protein in.
Good luck!

Hi Amy...I like the Nectar Carribean Cooler with Orange Crystal lite and the Nectar lemonade with tea crystal light. I usually start the day off with my protein drink and then in the afternoon and at night. I don't like the milk based ones at all. Good luck finding one that works for you.

I use and recommend Dymatize Elite protein, it's whey protein and it doesn't taste half bad blended with skim milk. You can add flavorings like sugar free syrup or frozen fruit to jazz it up too.
When I was early out, I would have a shake for breakfast almost every day. After a year or so, I didn't do the shakes as often, as I was eating more, but I still use them when I feel like I'm not getting enough protein in my diet.

AchievOne coffe drinks are my favorite, but pricey so I limit myself to 4 or five a week. I drink Nectar Fuzzy Navel at least twice a day. Some mornings, if I feel like coffee, I add 1 scoop of Unjury unflavored to a big cup. I also like the Unjury in Crystal Light lemonade.
I eat cottage cheese, plain yogurt with Splenda, beef jerky-type products (Jack Links Prime Cuts). I eat my own chili with cheddar on it often.
Just last week I started eating Wasa Crispbread again with peanut butter on it.
If I am out I will order fast food salad with chicken on it with balsamic vinagrette. On the Poker Run this weekend I found a convenience store selling slices of colby cheese--what a luxury! How often do we find something we can eat on the fly? I snack on Asiago and Vermont cheddar cheese at home.
Hope you find some that goes down well!
