For fear of stepping on toes......
I am going to post this anyways.
My sister is having a hard time of it lately.
She needed a sleep study, and knowing if she needed a machine, that she would need to use it for two weeks prior to surgery. So, when her PCP was writing the orders I specifically told her to write it for a SPLIT NIGHT. So, that way, if she needed the machine, she would get the prescription that night, get the machine like a week later, and all is well in the WLS world.
Well, the night of the sleep study, the tech told her she didnt have it enough to be put on the machine. Great news right? Wrong. He screwed up, and should have had her on the machine to get a prescription. So, now she needs to go in for yet another sleep study which is this Tuesday, 3 weeks before surgery. DAMN. I am not sure she is gonna make her surgery date, but I am hopeful at the same time. She has busted her a$$ to get to this point, just to be slapped back 2 steps.
So, my question is do you think she can get a prescription and a machine in 7 days?? How long did it take for you to get yours??
She thinks it might be a blessing in disguise, since her surgery was for Aprl 18 and my Dads is 3 days later on the 21. I told her she could take care of him if he needed help, since she was getting hers done Lap (I was taking care of 4 kids after mine, what is one FATHER?? ) I just dont want to see her have to wait another month, you know???
Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated

Dianna,
I think you can get the machine pretty quickly once you get the write up and prescription from the doctor for it. The key is to be persistent getting the results from the sleep lab and the prescription from the doctor.
I don't remember how long it took to get my machine. I did have to go back for a separate titration (another night). I didn't get into deep enough sleep early in the night for the test for them to have time to titrate the machine for me.
She'll want to make sure the prescription has the machine setting, gel mask and with humification on it. Humification really helps keep you from drying out.
We went through a medical supply place in Alexandria... off Edsal Road. It is called Apria. Perhaps what she can do is to call and find out what medical supply company her insurance works with so she can get the ball rolling on that. She can probably also call and get an appointment scheduled and tell them it is urgent and tell them as soon as she gets the report and prescription she'll fax it over.

Hi Dianna, well I don't know anything about this, but i am going to pray that she can have the surgery on her date. I didn't know it was so close to your dads date. That is awesome. Just a couple of more members of your family and you will have it made!!
Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Dianna,
I got mine the same day from the home health care company. I also work for an insurance company, so I can tell you that persistance is the key. Tell the home health care company the urgancy of the situation and that she is having surgery in three weeks and HAS to be on this to get the surgery done. Be flexible and willing to go to the company and pick up the machine instead of having it delivered. And most importantly try and remember that God has a reason for whatever He does. It will all work out as He has planned, even if it seems the wrong thing to us at the time.

I don't have any suggestions or advice, but I am sorry your sister ha**** a small bump in the road. I pray that she can get this taken care of quickly and that her surgery date doesn't have to be postponed!
By the way, I saw your post about your dad being approved. That is awesome news. I am so happy for you and your family!
