sweet taste in mouth - post op

My saliva is very very sweet tasting since I had the surgery on the 8th of March. Has anyone else had this? Do you know why?

Kristine, I had my surgery on the 14th and I 've had some weird tastes in my mouth, not necessarily sweet, but sometimes though. I dont know what it is either, probably just the body adjusitng ot hte radical changes. Kirsten

Actually, mine has been sweet recently. Since my sense of smell is wacko, I have no idea if the sweet is REALLY SWEET or if my breath is offensive. I just try to roll with it. Hope you are feeling well! Lois

I'm betting it's the ketosis. I had wickedly horrible breath and had to chew gum all day to rid myself of the nastiness. Congrats on being post op!

I got a strange taste after drinking the protein shakes. I asked the nutritionist about it & she said it was from the whey in the shakes. Hope this helps. Anastasia
