Thanks to All
I want to thank everyone that posted prayers and well wishes for Amy . She is out of the hospital .. but is still in a lot of pain .. and still running a fever . She was released as she does not have medical insurance . We are taking her to a specialist tommorow .
She is very weak still and says to me that she just does not feel normal .
I am still very scared for her .. but I keep it in my head she will be fine .. and I know she will be .
The sad part of it all is that the hospital would have kept her and ordered a specialist and other test if she had of had the means to pay for it all . This saddens me .. to no end .. imagine how many other Americans fall short of good health care .. and die due to this ..I am ashamed of the system .. they have failed me .. and my daughter .
Thanks again .
Natalie
I was so sorry to hear about your daughter and her troubles, Natalie. I hope she's doing at least a little better.
What shocks me is the fact that I thought it was a law that hospitals are not allowed to turn someone away. As a teenager, I spent a fair amount of time in the ER waiting room of Fairfax Hospital (waiting for my father, he had a lot of chest pains) and I remember a plaque that said that the hospital had to treat everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. I could have sworn it was some sort of "Act" even.
It's ridiculous that in this day and age it still all boils down to money, even when it's life or death.
