Udate on My Daughter
Hang in there Nat...Try to remember that doctors are trained to not react the way we do...their job is to keep us calm. At the same time, I would recommend not leaving things totally up to them. I was quite ill about 10 years ago and they didn't recommend specialists to me so I began to do research and made my own recommendations...eventually I got to the bottom of it (quicker than I think it would have been if I waited around for the docs). Another good piece of advise that I got was to change my PCP to an internist (at that point I had a "family doctor") Internists are trained to look for EVERYTHING! My savior ended up (ultimately) being an AWESOME internist. Remember too that your daughter has an AWESOME person in her corner (YOU!!!) and she will get through this! I'll be thinking about the 2 of you...Good luck!

Nat,
I'm confused...why wouldn't the doctors call in a specialist? Did they have any reason at all (other than the insurance thing)? What about a second opinion? I think I would personally be contacting a lawyer. Sometimes all it takes is a fax sent from an attorneys office to get the ball moving.

G'morning Natalie ~
Sorry I'm so late on replying to this - haven't been around the boards in the last few days and Im trying to play catch up this morning, in between laundry and having to get ready to head out to meet my Girly-Friends for lunch.
Good grief - I canNOT believe the problems you (and your daughter) are having trying to get a specialist involved. At this point, that should be an option that the hospital has already looked into - has there been any more updates, as of yesterdays post?!?
I can't imagine the fear and concern you're going through right now - I would be absolutely distraught if it were my son in the hospital and Im sure they'd be calling Security on my butt by the time I finished rolling a few heads there.
Keep us posted - know that you and your daughter are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs - Lei
