I am Back From Doctor
Hey, Nat! Sorry to hear that you're in so much pain. I can understand. Hopefully the neurologist will be able to offer some type of help.
I had my pre-op appt today for my neck surgery on 3/13. The first one helped, but I trust that this one will really fix it for me.
What's that? I hear a Vicodin calling my name!
Feel better soon!
JoAnn
Hi there Tinker Bell - I can say that I had a C6-7 ectomy/fusion last April (pre RNY surg) my RNY was 1-16-6. I had bad head aches, pain in my neck and shoulders, sometimes tingling in my arm and tingling on my left side of my face! I had convinced myself that I had a brain tumor and was scared as @#@@. I used to crack my neck all the time, sometimes it would crack without me even thinking about it when I would look one way or the other. I went to an orthopedic doc. They did the xray routine, but just ruled out that there where no breaks. The next day I was scheduled for an MRI. It was at 8am on a Wednesday. They also scheduled me to come back into the office on the following Monday to see the doc for the results. Well, the MRI went fine - I went back to work and at 9am the same day I received a call from the doc himself. He told me not to do anything, that he needed me to come into the hospital directly and that he wanted to operate that afternoon. I was to go to the nearest medical care unit that I could find, so they could stabelize my nec****il I got to the hospital! I could not beleive what he was telling me. He told me in medical terms and said it twice, I had to ask him to please put it in terms that I would understand. Quote " You have a broken neck" , "You need surgery" My point to this long story is.......don't keep putting it off to go see a doctor..........it's not just old age creeping up on you!!!! It was determined that it was a long ago injury that I had when I was 7 and age along with deteriation just made things get worse. Now I can't stand to hear anyone crack a joint................I just think, oh my goodness, they are going to break that joint!!!!!! Take care and keep going to the Doctor, there is a reason that it hurts and crackles. God Bless, keep us posted.
(surgery was the best thing that I did! The neck and the RNY!!)
Tracy.

Hi Sweety,
I agree with Dana and am suprised that an MRI was not ordered. Get one. With all I've been through with my "dislocated shoulder drama" the past 3 months, the MRI was the story-teller. The neurologist will want the results to help with their diagnosis and treatment plan options.
I have had neck stiffness for YEARS; when I had my shoulder MRI, they also did one on my neck and found some "issues" that will have to be dealt with eventually, but also lots of early arthritis!
Take care, dear Tink, and please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
**praying for ya**
