ALAS! More surgery

To re-cap my recent history, I had RNY on 2/21/05 and cervical spine surgery on 7/11/05. Not a great few months! I found out the other day that my neck surgeon is going to have to operate AGAIN within the next few months. I was injured at work in Dec 2004; I was out of work for the first 12 weeks of this school year following the surgery. Since I am out of FMLA leave, I may have to wait until school is out in June to have this next operation. However, the doc doesn't want to wait that long. I am soooooooooo tired of this pain, and somehow it just doesn't seem right that my job could be changed and that I'll have to go on COBRA for insurance (which costs big $$$$) when this is the result of a work injury. Sorry for whining. Thanks for listening. JoAnn from VA 240/120

JoAnn, Sorry you have to deal with yet another upcoming surgery and so sorry that you still remain in pain. Since you were injured at work doesn't workman's compensation apply? I had 3 surguries in the past year and have one more coming and this one might actually be a dual operation on both parathyroid and thyroid depending on a biopsy I have next week on the thyroid. I'll know more about that next week. Last year, I had lower back surgery, WLS and lap gallbladder. Best wishes, Kathy

Thanks, Kathy. Surgery will be covered by Workman's Comp, but what they actually pay me is only 60% of my salary, based on what I was making at the time of the accident. Needless to say, that's not great. The insurance thing is awful; it will cost me more than a week's WC pay per month just to have insurance. I think I'm getting screwed and am NOT even enjoying it!
