Friday night dinner - in Richmond!
Hi all. Count three more in for the total, please. I am a local, too, but I honestly have rarely gone down to the slip and bottom. I was always too "big" to feel comfortable, so I just stayed away. I have been to Richbrau once, for my high school renunion. As I remember it has three floors, so if we call they may reserve part of an area for us. It was more like a bar than a resturant but was nice. Don't remember whay kind of food they had. Maybe somewhere better might be closer in town for the larger party thing. I know Red Lobster can accomodate, but it is just a thought. I would LOVE to eat at TC, but NOT at $50.00 a person! I think earlier is better and we can hold seats for those joining us later. I could get there early and hold tables. I get off from work at 4:30 and could be ready to leave my house by 5. Let me know.
Tammy
G'morning Susan!
I suspect I'll be doing very little eating that night - so "where" was only important in respect to the DANCE FLOOR! LOL - gotta have my priorities in life, right?
As far as the "travel plans"? [sigh] they WERE going just fine, till the Navy stepped in. The leave time in February is a NO GO - the entire sub is being denied leave since they're trying to get it back into the water in March. That being said? I told my hubby as much as I HATE taking the first cruise of my life without him, I'm gonna!
We're working on a "Girlfriends ONLY - no men allowed Cruise" for October - leaving out of Norfolk on Carnival, wanna go?
See you SOON!!
Lei,
Count me in. Only one.
Sorry, I don't know the Richmond area very well so I can't help with that.

7:30 is okay with me.
By the way, I can take at least 3 people in the car with me to the restuarant/Tobacco Club. Cut down on some cars.
Thanks,
Beth
To the Northern Virginia people, I would allow at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get there because of the traffic. Being a commuter, Fredericksburg to DC. Once you get to Fredericksburg, it should open up.
G'morning Beth (almost typed Sara!)
Thank you for offering to drive some peeps, if need be!! I have a feeling that OFFER will be snarfed up quickly. On Monday, I'll be posting the FINAL list of dinner peeps and then I'll start the next line of questioning..
1) Who's meeting at the Lobby
2) Who's going straight to the restaurant
3) Who has extra room in their vehicle (if meeting in the lobby)
4) Who needs a ride (if meeting in a lobby)
I'll be sure to show YOU available with room for 3, thank you thank you thank you!
Can't wait to meet you - fair warning? I have a horrible memory and I'm TERRIBLE with names!
Which is why I call everyone "hon, sweety, or hey YOU, etc"
Lei~
Silly me forgot my email!

Lei,
I'm coming down with my friend Karen Showalter. She's a kind of take the bull by the horns kind of girl. So when she first read David's email, she called the Tobacco company and made a reservation for for as large a group as they would let her, which was 10 people. Here's a thought, why don't one or two others do the same thing. The tables may or may not be all together, but we'd all be in the same restaurant anyway. Just my 2 cents.
I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again. Karen and I are leaving No Va around 2pm, so depending on traffic, we should be there within a couple of hours.
Gail
Gail - that is an awesome idea!!! I sent an email to David this morning to see if he knew the MAX number allowed on reservations but you've taken care of that question.
I'm going to call and reserve one right now for 10 peeps for 7:30. Is that the time frame that you and Karen are going with? Is your table for 10 maxed out, or do you have room for others? Also, I'll see if they'll sit us "near" the Showalter party, assuming that's the name it's under.
I think we'll need one more person to call in reservations for 10 and that'll probably cover it. I'll know for sure after I read the rest of the emails and see if ya'll have room on your table.
Lei,
2 more for Friday night! My husband and I (he won't be attending the conference.)
I'd love to be in a group at the Tobacco Company... I've never eaten there before. Like Tammy C, although I'm a Richmonder (actually Chesterfield...) we weren't much for eating in the city. I'm not picky whom I sit with, as I've never met a stranger! I'm sure I'll get a chance to "meet and greet" everyone while dancing and the remainder of the weekend.
Also, La Grotta, where I had my famous "first meal" New Years Eve, is less than 2 blocks from Tobacco Company. It is wonderful, but not too big.
Let me know if needed and I'll call and make another reservation at Tobacco Company.
Thanks !

Consider YOU and da' man ADDED!!
As far as making another reservation? I might take you up on it. Right now, I have emails out to Karen Showalter & Gail S. about combining there table reservations (and upping the count from 10 to 20) and I also have an email out to Patty, as a possible back up for making the reservations.
Can't wait to meet you - we're up to a possible 40, how the heck are we going to remember all the names (Im so so so BAD with names)!?!
See you soon - Lei
