Out of sight, out of mind
“You can't seem to help yourself when you see food. Here's how to use that to your advantage.”
Out of sight out of mind may be the key for some when it comes to high calorie foods. Banning bags of chips and the cookie jar from the kitchen counter is a good idea, better yet to keep them out of the house completely, or at least make them hard to reach without effort. This is a good trick even for those who might not always think about their health or weight...like kids and husbands. The key is definitely to put healthy eats in plain sight. Have a fruit bowl on the counter to remind you that you have apples and bananas for a quick snack. When you open the fridge, have bags of veggies in full view. Baby carrots are so convenient and kids will eat them as quickly as chips if they're readily available when hunger calls.
