Martinsville Virginia

Hi everyone. I live in the Martinsville VA area. I am having to drive to Roanoke to see my surgeon, Dr Long. I have jumped through Medicaid's hoops for the last 6 months. I have the Virginia Premier MMO. I finished my pre-op tests, my doctor's office faxed and mailed in my info to get the approval for the surgery. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks for an answer but actually they faxed my approval the same day. My surgery has been set for March 12th. I know I am gonna need people to talk to and ask questions. I was just wondering if anyone here lives near. I am sure you will all get sick of seeing my posts but I am determined to do this right.

When I was in your spot, 5 yrs ago, I found it strengthening and motivating to spend some time on OH.com looking at the before and after pictures and reading peoples stories from their profiles (clcik on their name from the before and after pics or on the message boards.
Just hang in their. getting approval and a date is the hardest part. Having the surgery is like reaching the top of the highest peak of the roller coaster. Its all downhill from there.

Hello, I am from Collinsville. I have not been on this board in years. I sure hope your surgery went well. I went to Roanoke as well, but had Dr. Lucktong. I am almost 4 years post op and have not had any complications. Feel free to ask away.

I had my surgery Monday March 12th. I did ok after the first surgery but Friday evening I had to be taken to Baptist Hospital in Winston to have emergency surgery. I had developed 1 large open hernia and 2 small cluster hernias on each side plus I had a  slight blockage. Hopefully I will perk up soon.

Oh my!!! Please keep us posted. Sure hope you are doing better soon.

Hi, I live on the Patrick Henry County Line Rd near Patrick Henry Fire Department. I had my surgery March of last year and have now lost 150lbs. I do hope every thing goes great for you. :)
