revision/repair surgery
Hi, Virginia Peeps:
Some of you may remember me - I had my RNY in August of 2005. After that, I lost 200 lbs. I had complications right from the start, including ulcers and a gastro-gastric fistula. Ever since then I have pain, nausea sometimes, but didn't have insurance to get it corrected. My company got purchased in August, and our insurance changed to a company and plan that covers gastric bypass surgery. I had an upper endoscopy in September, which revealed multiple ulcers and TWO gastro-gastric fistulas. It had gotten to the point where all I could eat was soft mushy stuff and liquids, which has started to add weight back.
Long story short, I now have a surgery date. I am having revision/repair on January 18.
I know I shouldn't be scared, but I am. The first time I didn't feel like I had much to lose because my obesity was killing me. Now that I know what life is like thin(ner) I can't bear the thought of more complications or problems. I know, I shouldn't worry, but I am. I just hope that the holidays take my mind off things. I have a lot to be grateful for.
Anyway, thanks for listening.

I think it would be normal to be scared - particularly with all the troubles you had before. But you know, to continue leading a healthy lifestyle, these things must be taken care of. I am so glad you have a company now with insurance that will cover it. Focus on each day, and try not to worry about tomorrow. Today has enough worry of its own, we don't need to borrow from the future! Take care!
