Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I know you are both looking forward to it as well as apprehensive; that's they way I am approaching it too! I had my inital consult with Dr. Kriegel and am going back for my second visit this coming week. He is recommending the full abdominoplasty as well as the LBL. I have Anthem BCBS Federal Employees Standard coverage and will probably end up being self pay also for either all or most of the costs.

Please continue to post, as I mentioned when you posted in the past, I'm right behind you in the process. God bless and you'll do fine!

You will recieve excellant care before, during and after your surgery.  He is a real advocate for your care in the hospital and you will see more of him than you suspect.  Fairoaks is a great hospital  They even have a Stabucks and they let me have coffee with cream right away.    He mangages pain well and achieves great results with his lower body lifts.  PM if you have any questions.  Healthy healing, Loris

Thanks Loris for responding. I think my fears are more of the pain and not the results.

Dr. K. is very good with pain control.  He sends you home with percocet and uses a pain pump in the hospital.  I also had an O Q pump.  He is very responsive to your needs.  I too was very concerned how I would handle the pain, but he makes it very doable.  The nurses go out of their way to make you comfortable.  Ask for what you want and need.  At home take your medication on schedule at first.  Don't want until you are in pain to take it.

Constipation will be a problem with pain medication.  Take a stool softener for each and every pain pill you take.  You can't use your abs to help you eliminate.  Loris

Hey Loris - how are you doing?

Great advise Loris!! I so remember the first time and the constipation -  take stool softeners for a couple of days beforehand and during the first few days of pain meds and drink as much as you can - it is no fun if you don't -  I was in more pain from that than the surgery - after the first time I got much smarter and took stool softeners to help. So worth it!!

I am doing OK.  I lost my brother six months after I lost my mom.  It has been rough.  Are things settling down for you?  Loris
