Just this past saturday I noticed that I can now eat normal portions and not feel the least bit full. Only protein give me the full sensations, but today I ate two pieces of toast, 8 carrots sticks & a pack of 8 peanut butter crackers all in a row, when just the other week one piece of toast was just enough for breakfast. Have I some how stretched my pouch? How do I know if I have or have not, I do not fell the least bit full, just really hungry how in the world am I holding so much food all at once. If I did stretch my pouch just being little over 6 months out what am I suspose to do Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

If you are chewing your food well and sipping liquids along with it, then it is called slider foods because you have made then like semi-liquids and they kinda slide right on thru,...therefore you can intake more because it is going out of the pouch while you are putting into the pouch.

If on the other hand, you succssfully ate your described list without the aid of liquids, then,...maybe yes, that is a wholesome amount for 6 months out, depending n how long it took to eat that amount.  If it is 15-20 minutes, thats is a valid concern.  If it took 60-90 minutes, it is not.

If you are as concerned as you sound, my advice is go back to what you know you should be able to ingest, the pouch will shrink if you don't continue to put in more than you should at one time. Just like a normal stomach shrinks when less food is put in over time.
You have come too far to sabatoge yourself.  Try to be more alert and slow down or divert your attention to something else to avoid eating without taking a 20-30 min break in between.

Also, at this point of your journey, you will notice being able to eat more at one sitting, and that is the healing progression.  You will also be able to start easting a wider range of foods you could not tolerate earlier on.  This is when the knowledge and new skills you had the opportunity to learn during the initial not being able to eat and relearning how to eat and listen to your body tell you when you were full or eating things it couldn't handle phase become most important and it will become increasingly up to you to practice those smarter better habits.  The 1 oz cup for sipping and the small spoon feeding and waiting t see how you feel, contiues to apply if you let it.
Best of luck. I'm sure you have not done irreparable damage . Its good that you noticed and are concerned.  That is definitely step one in stayng on the straight and narrow leaner new lifestyle.

You are eating carbs  toast and crackers......     how about sugar?  both are a double wammy for making you hungry.       You need to go talk to the NUT.

WLS is only a tool. I believe we all discussed this before you had the surgery.     You need to make the commitment and understand the good and bad ends of eating.   Not so sure you get what a good diet is.   Cuz you would not be breat and crackers.

I am a VSG & can eat more than an RNY.  I cannot eat small slice of whole wheat bread.   Crackers I may be able to get in 2 and even then I would be stuffed.   There is a lot of salt in those and would only eat one if there was nothing else to each.

Joe's made some very nice valid comments.

Tuff luv but the truth.   Please call and talk to the NUT

Hey Ruby,

I'm trusting and believing that you have not stretched your pouch. Call your nut and see what she/he has to say. Stay positive.

Good am Ruby,

Given we don't know all the details of your situation I would suggest contacting your nutritionist/surgeon's office to discuss this with them. What is appropriate for some may not be appropriate for you. We can give you suggestions however, the ultimate decisions are yours & your doctors. Each surgeon has different rules if you will for each patient being as that there are no 2 alike. I would suggest you journal your eating & drinking habits asap to include everything. It'll be a real eye opener. This will give details to your nut allowing them to better direct you in your journey.

All best!

At 6 months out it is definitely about time that you will notice changes in how much you can eat.  You may have days that you eat more or days that you eat less.  It is kind of normal and not likely that you have stretched it at this point.

Only protein give me the full sensations,  - note that you are noticing how you body is responding, carbs (bread & crackers) will not hold your body as long as the protein will.  It is good for your body to have some carbs (whole grain, whole wheat, etc) but protein should be the focus.

It is possible at this point that you need to adjust your calories and intake more (if your weight loss is slowing or has stalled this could be why).  A discussion with your Nutritionist to see where you should be at 6 months out is probably imperative.

Ruby,

Great advice from others.  The only "true" test to know if you stretched your pouch is to have a test done by your surgeon.  There is also the "cottage cheese" test...basically you eat until you feel full, measure what you consumed then you know the size of your pouch.  This was told to me by my nurse practitioner at the surgeons office.  In my opinion you are having too many carbs that don't satisfy you.  You should set up an appt with your surgeons office ASAP.  You have come too far to sabatoge yourself now.
