PreOp Testing
OMG this week is full of all the tests that I have to do before surgery!! It is a bit overwhelming but going good. Had the majority of them done yesterday (Upper GI, chest xray, abdominal sonogram, EKG, and PFT). Today I met with the pulminary dr and luckily he said my lungs are healthy! Tomorrow I am having the bloodwork done and sleep study tomorrow night. Dont know how they expect you to sleep with wires hooked to you...especially since I am a stomach sleeper. I will get through it somehow I am sure! After tomorrow I have all my testing done and then just have to attend the nutrition class on the 21st.
Really need to start getting to the gym on a more frequent schedule, even when I am crazy busy!! The personal trainer from our support group meeting gave me some great ideas for strength training and hopefully reducing the amount of loose skin afterwards. She also gave my husband permission to be a drill instructor for me and keep me on track....a job he is really looking forward to!!!

Brenda,
Yep...you are almost there. I remember the crazy busy schedule. As for the sleep study, ask for a mild sedative or ask if you can take Tylenol PM. That should help. I have had several studies and it is not that bad. As for being a stomach sleeper...you can sleep on your stomach during the sleep study but not after haveing your surgery. I used to only sleep on my stomach now I sleep flat on my back most nights. I am sure you will do fine!

Life could not get any better than this!
Wow, lots of tests but as the others said very well worth it!!! I guess I lucked out (if you want to think of it that way) all I had to do was labs and an EKG (just had an upper GI in May), then again I am going in for a revision...
Do you mind sharing with me what they told you at the support group meeting about strength training? I was not able to attend that meeting, but hope to make the next one!
Good luck to you, and I wish you were going to the nutrition class on the 15th, that is the one I am scheduled for...
Have a great day!

Thanks for your support and advice ladies! I keep reminding myself that this will all be worth it in the end.
Denise she showed us exercises using resistance bands. I had some in the closet and have now pulled them out and starting to use them. Alot of them you can do seated if you arent strong enough to stand. I hope this helps a bit! As far as the nutrition class I think I was supposed to go to the one on the 15th but was told that class was full. Best of luck to you on your revision!!
