OT- Going to DC

Good Morning!

My husband and I will be taking our daughter and my 16 year old sister to DC for a day trip this weekend.  I am not really sure what we should do while we are there, or where we should go.  I know my sister wants to see the White House, but other then that the day is wide open...  Does anyone have any suggestions?

For some reason my sister REALLY wants to ride the metro, so we will drive to the Vienna station and then hop onto the metro to get there... Which I guess is better then driving in!

Thanks, and hope you all have a great day!

Hello Denise,

Hope this is not getting to you to late.  I would suggest the monument, the bureau of engraving (see how the money is made), the paddle boats near the lincoln memorial or the kennedy center. The duck boat tours are reallt good also, you can get on and get off as aoften as you like.

I always enjoy the zoo!  The American History museum is reopen now and is awesome!  Plus all of the Smithsonian stuff is free so that is an added bonus.

Hope you have a great time!!

I am going to have to ask my sister about the zoo, I would love to go there, I love animals, and my daughter does too... We take her to petsmart on the weekends and she LOVES it!  I would love to take her to a zoo!

You can do the Smithsonian Museums,
National Gallery of Art
Natural History
Native American
Air and Space
The Smithsonian Castle
American Art
African Art.
Zoo

All these are free and they are all close. You can see the White House from the oustide but you cannot go in. You have to write your congressman 1 month before to get tickets. You can also see the monuments. Lincoln and The Vietnam Wall and Korean i think are all in the same area.

You can pass the whole weekend and still not see it all.
