I had surgery May 28...so I am less than 1 month post op. I feel great. But I am concerned that I am not losing what I should. I gained 13 pounds in the hospital.  So since I was discharged from the hospital on May 30 I have lost 25 pounds. But that was all within the first couple of weeks. I have only lost 1 or 2 pounds in the last week and a half. Is this normal? Will it start to come off again?

Autumn,

First of all Congrats on joining us on loser bench!!

I have had to learn everyone loses at different rates. I myself had surgery in Oct.08  and am losing slower than average. It becomes frustrating when you hear people saying " i had surgery 2 months ago and Ive lost 50lbs already" or " I reached my goal at 8 months out".  Everyones body loses at different rates. Me? I had surgery 8 months ago and am down 80lbs(which is alot slower than most). As long as you are losing weight thats great  even if its 1-5 lbs a month. Think of it this way  if you lost 5 lbs a month you would lose an average of 60lbs a yr. Im sure just like me you couldnt of lost 60lbs in a yr on your own and kept it off.  Keep doing what you are suppose to and you will get down to goal weight..it may not be in the timeframe you wanted but it will happen!!

Congrats on the weight you have lost so far you are doing wonderful!!!

My doc told me that the average is 25-28 pounds the first month, 20 pounds month 2 then about 10 pounds a month after that.  Of course everyone is different.  I am not on track to lose 20 pounds in my second month, but I am losing.  For that I am thankful!

Good luck!
Cheers!
Amanda

Everyone looses at different rates.   Make sure you are getting in your protien and try to work toward 64 ozs of fluid.      Keep in mind you do not want to loose it fast either.    My doctor want an average of no more than 7 lbs a month.

Take care and be healthly.   Caroline

Sounds like you are losing good to me.  You are also right at the point where your body is wondering what you did to it and trying to regroup.  A small stall/platuae, slow down.  Definitely normal.  Just keeping following the rules and it will happen.
