Daily Inspiration - Be Honest With Yourself

Be honest with yourself.   People who have WLS generally lose between 60 and 80 percent of their excess weight. Also, people often regain about 10 to 15 pounds. This is normal. Being honest with yourself means identifying and accepting a weight that you can live with, even if it doesn't match that "magic number" on the scale.   If you have regained more than 10 to 15 pounds (or have not lost at least 60 percent of your excess weight within 18 months after surgery), it's time to take an honest look at your program. Most people know what they are doing that is sabotaging their weight-loss success. But it's important to keep in mind that on rare occasion a physical reason may impede your efforts such as a staple-line disruption. So, if you are "doing everything right" and still struggling with weight, talk to your surgeon.   Action for the day: Keep a food, mood, and exercise log this week. You don't have to do it forever, just this week. You'll be surprised at what you learn. © 2007, National Association for Weight Loss Surgery. All rights reserved.
