Hello to anyone *****ads this.  Anyone else go to portsmouth for their weight loss surgery?  Well I have been checking the list online and the numbers seem to be flowing.  About a month ago they were at 135, two weeks ago 170, and now they are 191.  thats a huge jump.  I am 221.  Anyone else in line with me?  anyone else wait out this line and have been called back and waiting for their surgery date to come?  If so how long after you visited the surgeon did you happen to wait?  I know its different for everyone else.  I'm just asking.  Thanks

I was referred to Portsmouth by my PCP at Tricare Virginia Beach. But then Portsmouth referred me out in town because they are under staffed and booked out for surgery up to a year. It was the best thing that happen for me because my surgery was done at an COE and the surgeon was highly recommended. I went for my consult on March 29th, had all my evaluations done on March 31st, and got my surgery on May13th! Couldnt be happier with how things worked out!!!!
Good luck!!!!!!

If I read the dates right you had a baby just recently after RNY?  Congrats.  That is so wonderful.  How did it go for you?  I wish you the best.

Yes, you did read the dates right.  Thank you very much.  I had a baby girl a little over 7 weeks ago.  We are doing great.  I had a few complications at the end of my pregnancy and delivered 12 days early but all is great now and Claire is healthy.  That's all that really matters.

That is wonderful, yes that is all that matters.  Were your complications related to surgery or something else entirely?  I am happy to hear mom and baby are healthy and I am sure happy.  You have anoher child as well correct?  I dont have the other post in front of me.  Hopefully everyone is adapting.  Congrats again, I love pregnancy and childbirth and I think it's a beautiful experience.

I don't think my issues were strictly WLS related but some could have been.  I do have a 14 yesar old daughter as well.  We are all adapting very well.  Yes, it is a beautiful experience.  I am blessed to have experienced it twice!

I had my surgery at Portsmouth in October. I got on the list in late February last year and got the call on July 3. Did all my appointments by early september and had my surgery in October. Portsmouth is no longer taking patients, but if you already have a wait list number you will have surgery there. I believe the program is superior. Yes you can probably have the surgery quicker in the civilian world, but the waiting period is also a learning period and I highly recommend the nutritional classes offered at portsmouth (wednesdays at 3pm). Having the time to wait, think and learn about how my life would be post op was well worth it. good luck to you.
