Anyone self pay here in VA?
I had my procedure last August and self paid for a lap RNY total inclusive fees were $21800, that included up to 3 nights in the hospital, the surgeon's fee, 3 post op visits, blood work, chest xray, ekg, and 6 months follow up with the dietician. The traditional program fee that is normally charged to insurance patients was waived.; Otherwise it would have been and additional $750. I would add at least another $600 for independent doctor fees the ones that read you ekg, Xray and you upper GI results post surgery. My procedure was completed at the Sentara Careplex in Hampton Va with Dr. Anthony Terracina of The Weight Loss Surgery Center of Hampton Roads. The surgical center offers the open RNY procedure, the Fobi Rny , lapband and of course the Lap Gastric Bypass. The Lap RNy was the most expensive. The open Fobi Rny ( Lapband Rny Combo) was approximately $6,000 cheaper and Dr. Clark does most of those.
In Winchester Va, and Valley Health charges around $26,000 plus $750 program fees and outside test result fees and includes up to 3 or 4 nights in the hospital. The $26,000 was for the Lap RNY and I believe the Lapband was between $18-21,000.
Both facilities are Bariatric Centers of Excellence.
Even though I am from out of state and had to travel 300 miles, it was still much more economical for me to have my procedure done in Hampton Va. There is a other facilities one in Richmond and another one in Norfolk, but I really can't give you any information, other than the one in Norfolk Va is an Sentara Hospital, so the cost may be quite similar to that at the Careplex in Hampton.
