finally....
I had my open heart surgery on April 13. The morning of surgery, I was at my lowest since WLS, at 181. The day after surgery, when moved into my own room, out of ICU, I had to go to physical therapy and weighed in at 199. That's right. I gained 18 lbs of fluid in a matter of 2 days. I was more than devastated. My first reaction was to call my mom crying, just knowing that I was failing my RNY tool.
I went in to see the surgeon a week after surgery and had lost 9 lbs of that 18, down to 190. I was happy that things were going in the right direction. Last week, I had another check up and was down to 186, so things were still going smoothly. Well today, I went in for my first cardiac rehab therapy appt and had to get weighed. I was down to 177. I had lost 9 lbs in a week and have lost every pound and then some of the weight I gained from surgery.
I knew that the weight loss would slow down because of my surgery and not being very active with exercising. But with me now able to start cardiac rehab and Thursday being my first full session of exercise during therapy, I am nothing short of sure that it will kick start my weight loss. I am scheduled to go 3 times a week for 36 weeks so it will definitely be very helpful. Not only will there be exercising, there are classes, more geared to cardiac issues but I will also be seeing a nutritionist and that can not do anything but help too.
So for the first time in a very long time I am at the lowest I have been, 177, and couldn't be happier, although I am still hurting like hell. I want to thank everyone for all the prayers and the well wishes and for allowing me to toot my own horn.
