Hi everyone!

Coming straight to you from my very own little room at MCV/VCU. Surgery went much better and faster than we thought. It was supposed to be an approximate 5-7 hr surgery but mine was managed to be done in 3 1/2. I was in the cardiac surgery ICU until lunch time, the next day, so about one day. I am now in the step down unit and was possily going home tomorrow but am having issues with pain management and naseau. Until last night, when I had a cracker, I hadn't eaten since before midnight on Sunday. But they have prescribed pepcid and after 1 dose, it does seem to be helping.

I was stuck, literally 9 times, for an IV before surgery, after surgery, they were wanting get the aterial line and central line out so they tried to get another IV and I was stuck 3 more times. They ended up having to get someone from anesthesia to use an ultra sound machine to help find a good vein. They did, but.... it blew out 3 hrs later. And my surgeon was nice enough to not make me get another one.

We were looking at a discharge day of tomorrow or Friday but after the pain not being controlled and me just being ablet to eat, it will probably be more towards the weekend or end of the week. I just know that when I go home, I DO NOT plan on returning here except for follow ups and cardiac rehabilitation.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the well wishes, thoughts and prayers. They have meant the world to me and I am positive that they were heard and have helped.

Hugs to everyone.
