I have a question for everyone, I have been tracking my food intake over the past few days, and I notice that I am only getting in anywhere between 600-800 calories a day, and normally over 60G protein each day. Now I am not an expert on nutrition and all, but doesnt that put my body in "starvation mode" ? How many calories are you guys consuming each day? Guess I should put in here I am a lap bander but I am curious for all types of surgeries.
I work with someone who had the band done almost a year ago and she takes in about 800 calories. As long as you are taking in your vitamins and getting your protein and your fluids. You're fine. I have seen a nutritionists before surgery and that was they said. You should be fine. When eating a 1200-1500 calorie anyway, some of it is un-needed calories.
I am not a doctor nor do I pretend to be one. This question will be best answered by his office and NUT.
However, I can tell you in my experience as a RNY patient, as an early out we would live off of 400-700 calories for several months. I am not sure what my intake is right now. I do not count my calories, I am caliorie concious though. I maxamize my Protien intake through high protien foods and drinks. I do try to stay low fat in my cheese, but it is not always the case. I also consume lower fats in my foods and try to buy the leaner meats and eat fish. I make sure I get my veggies and fruit in. I am a label nut, and pay close attention to what I buy and what I eat. But I do not count my caolories, agian this may be wrong.

I know for RNY patients that would be about right for only being 4-6 weeks out of surgery. For band I am not positive but I think that would be about right for you also. I do know that men probably need a bit more than women. With the higher amount of protein, vitamins & water sounds like you are doing great. Do give your nut or dr. a call to make sure. :)
