A thought provoking question

While getting dressed this AM I had on the TV show Style by Jury. The feature story was a woman with severe arthritis and psoriasis. So along with a physical makeover, they gave her a lifecoach.
Here is the question I found interesting: How do you define yourself? Are you one who says I CAN'T do that because of..............(fill in the blank)     Or are you one who says I CAN?

This brought to mind a post I read yesterday from Sporty Jill. She has been one of our biggest promoters to get us moving yet she was berated from many people who have the I CAN'T attitude. I urge each one of us to find something that says I CAN. While it may not be running, for me,  I can lift a 10 lb weight, etc.

To steal an Army phrase....Be All that you CAN be....

What a GREAT question, and actually one that i have thought of over the past year.....what define ME?  And when I asked myself that question, the answer I got was VERY different than the answer I got from my friends and family.

So....I guess I should take their answer and leave mine at the door, huh???

But..you are SO right...you can do ANYTHING that you set your mind to.  If you want to hike the trails, then challenge yourself to do just that.  If you want to be adventureous and ride a motorcycle, then do it!

I've been talking for about 2 years of taking flying lessons for the heck of it.  This just may be the summer that I do just that.  You know why????

Cause I CAN!

Don't throw yours out the door.  We can be more than one thing, we need to be who we are to ourselves with a bit of consideration of others in there!!

Jen,

Great post   you are totally right.

I am going to start by saying: I CAN try something new everyday and stop assuming I CAN'T.

Hi Jen,

I have been a lurker on this board with occasional responses here and there.  I am still not where I want to be in my weight loss journey.  Still struggling with the decision for WLS but reading the posts here and your this particular post ha**** the nail on the head.  There is a tremendous power in positive attitude and I am so glad you refreshed my memory with your post.

Thanks!!
