Moved to Solids!
Congrats on moving to solids! take it slow and try one new thing at a time. I personally had no problems with shrimp and was eating it at the mushy stage. (It is allowed) But what doesn't bother me,may bother you. We are all different. I can not eat red meat but in chili. It is just to tough for me. And I personally can not eat mojority of reheat foods.
Congrats on your weightloss!! That is fabulous! You will be in the two hundreds very soon!

Michelle, Hey surgery Buddy Congrats I seeing 2ville in the very near future, we are both knocking on that door. I like to see that we are losing at a very close rate to each other and for me it's exciting to see you work, It helps me, make me feel I'm doing OK.
Dr Moazzez has us on mushies for 8 weeks after the first 10 days of liquids, so even though we 37/38 days post op I have only been on mushies.almost a month So I have another month to go. I am kinda scared about moving on to solids since I have had to deal with food getting stuck while on mushies.
I ditto what Lisa said about keeping an eye and being in tune with you body as to what when and how often things get stuck. I know all to well because of letting my stricture go too long. Getting a stricture only happens in about 5 % of post ops according to Dr Moazzez.
So take the solids slowly, but enjoy then for both of us right now.
Now for my new new thing adding what I am grateful for: I am grateful to have a surgery buddy that is doing so well, and that I am here to be able to be her cheerleader.

Awww thanks Hiedi - I'm so glad we can go through this together. It helps me also knowing that we are in this together! I will DEFINATELY being taking solids slowly. One thing the nut told me yesterday - if you do end up getting sick on something - take it easy on your next couple meals to give your stomach time to "calm down". Don't consistently pu****! So I think this new solid phase is going to be VERY SLOW!!!!
Thanks for the stats on strictures. I think staying in tune to my body is one of the hardest things I have to learn. I don't think I got to be 385 lbs by listening to my body - I think I completely tuned it out!!
Thanks for being here for me - I appreciate it and hope that I can do the same for you!!

Good am Michelle,
Congrats on moving forward to solids & your weight loss thus far. You've gotten some great advice from others here. I wanted to add that a lot of salads such as chicken, shrimp, etc not only sometimes have added sugar but keep in mind the fat from mayo and other preservatives. In addition, if things are getting stuck perhaps wait a week and revisit it to see if your pouch can handle it. Also, keep in mind the references to strictures. Most folks face them in the first 0-6 months of surgery. Then there are folks like me who got them 1+ year after surgery accompanied with a bleeding ulcer. All things to give you possibilities yet not to scare you. I sincerely hope you are able to try new foods and they settle well for you.
All best!

It is nice to move on to the solid stage. Like the others said, take it slow. The pain you experienced could have been food getting stuck, reaction to sugar, or also to the fat in the mayo used. Definitely be careful. Another thing to look out for is that your bowel movements might change as you are eating denser foods. Watch for constipation before it gets bad. :)
