WLS support group near Lynchburg VA

Anyone know of a WLS support group in or near Lynchburg VA?  I am having my lapband surgury March 18th at UVA in Charrlottsville.   I thought a local support group might be good, but I can't seem to find out if there is one here.

I am not in your area but wanted to welcome you and wish you luck on your upcoming surgery.  If it is not too far you may wish to check out the FFP.  They meet once a month in Charlottesville (I think it is the last Saturday of the month).  They have wonderful get togethers!

Thanks.    Charlottesville is about 1 1/2 hours drive from here.   UVA mentioned a support group led by UVA, but it met on a weekday and there was no way I could make it.   If FFP meets on weekends, I could do that.  

Sorry, but I don't know who FFP is or how I go about contacting them.   If you have any information I would be glad to know.

FFP is run by our very own prissypringles...aka Melinda.  Let me know if you can not find her profile to PM her and I will get you her contact info.  She is awesome and has a lot of info to share.  Also, I know it is not in person but I am usually around so if I can do anything to help or be of support...please let me know!

Melinda's group meets on a Saturday once  a month for lunch and I attend when I can too - they are great for support and for meeting people. Great group of people...

Penny, I am about 1 1/2 hours from Roanoke.   I could probably make it on Mondays.   I might have to leave work just a little early but my boss is usually pretty good about that kind of stuff.   Mabey I will be able to attend both groups and get to meet lots of people.  If you wouldn't mind could you please send me more info on the Monday night meetings (like were you meet) and who I should contact.   I am new to message boards like this, but I am guessing there is a way for you to send me a message, witout it being posted.


Tammy thanks for the info, I'll check the members list for Melinda and see if I can figure out how to send her a message directly.   Also, thanks for the offer of support.   I have been reading the posts on this site for nearly a month now, and I am sure that I will continue to be a member here.  It's great to know others who are going through similar situations and that can understand where I am comming from.

I am in Scottsville and go to FFP when I can. It's a good group.   If you find a support group in the Lynchburg vicinity let me know, that is just about as close for me.

The group in Lynchburg dissipated a few months back due to lack of participation. Sorry about that for you. If i hear of anymore groups set up Ill let you know.
