Welcome to Monday!
Saturday was perfect! It was baby shower day and we had a blast. After that Jackie, Melinda, Kat and I went to Starbucks to have cuppas and chat time to catch up. Melinda had to leave earlier than we did () but we carried on. Then just as we were wrapping things up Steve called and he was hungry (he's my bottomless pit!) so we all went to dinner and carried on. It was Jackie's birthday so we had the waiters serende her! Then it was home and off to bed for about an hour and a half before we went to work. Papers were early and we got home about 5:30 and we all asleep by 6.
Sunday was a mixed bag. I was having some weird feelings so I stayed in bed for a lot longer than I wanted to. I finally got up and moving (I was awake a lot earlier than before I got up) and realized it was too late to get returns from some of my stops and that I had missed church. I still didn't feel good and by this time it was sleeting so Kara rode with us and Steve drove us to work. After we hit the stops that we could (all but two) we rode around and played in the snow. We got home about 7 or so and I started to finish the billing for today just to give in to temptation and go outside and watch Kara and Steve playing on the four wheelers. I miss it but will not chance anything by getting on them right now. I still don't feel great anyway. We came back in and warmed up with hot cocoa and I finally got my work done. It was off to bed about 10:30 or so.
As for today...schools are closed here so Kara will have a relaxing day. I still don't know if work will close or delay the opening, but I am praying. I am leaving in just a minute or two to do the billing~~Steve is taking me~~and then I will either go to work or go home for an hour or two before starting round two of the billing.
As for tonight...all of the plans depends on work. I have to enter everything into the computer and get all set up for Steve to turn in tomorrow morning, I have some laundry to do but most importantly...I have a snow man to build with Kara, Steve and my dad. That is priority...family time!
EDIT:::As I was getting ready to leave Steve and Kara begged me not to go so here I sit waiting to go to work for the 'ol day job that NEVER closes. I will have to double up on things this evening and then go tomorrow morning as well for the other stops. Steve ended up in the ditch twice from 95 and says the roads are horrible. Please be extra safe if you have to venture out!
Prayers for everyone and please be safe. Love you all!

Life could not get any better than this!
I don't remember if I mentioned it yet, but last Friday I saw Dr. Mo & got a fill on my band. It seems to be doing the trick because I have lost nearly 8 lbs since! I also bought Wii Fit 5 days ago & I'm loving it! As you all know, my exercise abilities are limited, but I'm still able to get moving a bit with the Wii & I'm to tickled. I don't care if I have to sleep for a couple of hours afterwards....it's worth it. I especially like the yoga segment for me, but I also get a kick outta watching the boys do their "workouts" too. It is sooooo funny watching Matt do the hula hoop. We got Mike on it Saturday evening & that goof actually fell off the balance board & broke his toe!! You would think that someone who rides a horse weekly would have better coordination...lol. Hmmm...maybe that's WHY he rides a horse....roflmao!
Even cooking is exhausting anymore, but I pushed myself & managed to cook a terrific steak dinner, to include homemade broccoli-cheese soup that I nibbled on throughout the weekend. Go**** was good! I, like you, Tammy, LOVE soups....especially homemade.
The rest of the weekend was mindless tv watching with Mike while continuing to work on the wedding present. I finally have completed the first of 8 rows. Only took me a week! Good thing I started it now. I just hope I get it finished by the end of June.
We haven't had much snow...usually we valley people wind up with the brunt of these storms, but not this time. Still, I won't be feeling easy until Mike calls me to let me know he got to the Pentagon ok. Since I don't go out in this kind of weather, he's taken the truck so he stands a better chance with 4 wheel drive.
Today, I'm making beef stew in the crock, more work on the gift. Maybe I'll get 2 squares done today!
Stay safe & warm & take photos of the pretty white stuff!

Just a note on the protein drinks...your tastes WILL change after surgery. Don't get too much of anything and the easiest thing to drink post op (and the cheapest, I think) is the carnation instant breakfast (sugar free kind in the blue box) made with 8 ounces of skim milk and add 1/3 cup of non-fat dry milk. This is good for 20 grams of good protein. My surgeons office has us drink 3-4 per day of these for two weeks and nothing else. They get old after the first week or so...but are a great source of protein!
Good luck with the room cleaning...my baby has to do that this week, too. Just not today...it's a snow day and we need to play in it!

I'll share the broccoli cheese soup recipe if you share the taco soup.
Since I was only making enough for me, I made a small amount. Not much measuring either...kinda eye ball it.
1. fresh broccoli, chopped then steamed till very very soft. whirl in food processor to puree.
2. mince onion & fresh mushrooms, then saute in either very small amount of margarine, or olive oil in as saucepan. I prefer the marg for creamier flavor
3. Add 1% milk to the saucepan on med heat, but don't scorch. It needs to be hot enough to melt the cheese.
4. Velveeta cheese...a little for less cheesy, more for more cheesy. Stir with wire whisk to keep it smooth & creamy
5. Add the broccoli puree & stir with whire whisk.
6. If it's too thin, thicken with a little bit of flour/water mixture using cold water & whisk till smooth. Pour in small amounts & let simmer a couple minutes until it achieves the thickness you prefer.
Voila!
Brown 1.5 lbs of extra lean ground beef and a large onion, diced. Drain and return to the pan. add 1 cup of water, 2 packs of taco season and 1 pack of hidden valley ranch dry season mix and let simmer (as you would taco meat).
In a large stock pot or crock pot put the following...and do not drain:
1 can each of:
pinto beans
light red kidney beans
black beans
large can of rotel tomatos
large can of diced tomatos
2 cans of shoeped corn
let simmer...the longer the better. This will be good tonight...but better tomorrow. It is not cheap to make but is yummy, great tasting and freezes well!
Enjoy!
