When I was early out and still on the mushy stage I would usually get:

Chili and cheese= I would rather have this then soup, more dense and more protien.
Order a grilled or broiled fish andusually soft steamed veggie like carrots. If it came with any sauce, I would forgo the souce because they are loaded with calories and sugar.
Based on Brittnays (Dr Halmi's nutriotnist) plan, we could have these things as long as you are able to make it like baby food while chewing.

Now:  Some sample foods.

Outback:
I like their Ahi Tuna appitizer.  I forgo the sauce.  I may get a side salad as well with it.  We suually have it to go, so I add my own seasoning.

Carrabas:
They have this wonderful grilled shrimp and scallops salad in a vingrette dressing.  YUMMY!

Chili's (I have become very aquainted with them recently)
Things i have ordered:
Grilled Chiken Quesadillas
THe grilled Tilipia with beans and veggie sides.
Chili and side salad, I pour the chili on top of my salad and I ask for Salsa and sour cream.  I put a dab of sour cream on top.

Wendy's
Small chili and chesse and side salad with the chili poured over my salad.

If i eat Mexican (I love)
I always go for the taco type salad with no tortillas and use salsa and sour cream as my dressing.

As you can tell, I LOVE taco salads and often make a batch of taco meat at home and use the salsa and sour cream as my toppers.

I have never even considered putting chilli on as my dressing...I think I may have some for dinner tonight since I still have some chilli in the fridge from Monday...thanks for the idea!

I am not a fan of salsa personally...but I do love adding FF sour cream to my chili anyway...and extra cheese!  I am getting hungry just thinking about it!
