Update on me...from the horse's mouth, I suppose!
So, I wake up at O'Dark thirty this morning to go to Loudoun Hospital to support my mom while she underwent surgery this am.
Yeah...I didn't make it. Instead, I was just driving down the road minding my own business when a damned tree jumped right out and hit my driver door! This, of course, caused me to go down into a ditch where I came to a confusing stop and sort of got myself together.
Seriously, though...I was driving on a back road and I reached over to turn the heat up and my front right tire dropped off the pavement onto the shoulder. I very gently steered her back onto the road and at that moment, my rear right tire went into a ditch at a funny angle and propelled me across the road. I totally lost control and slammed on my breaks. I sideswiped a tree which caused me to hit my head on the driver side window (I broke out the window with my head) and it crushed my door into my left hip. I came to a stop about 15 feet past the tree under a big twiggy bush. I was dazed and in disbelief but, conscious and mostly rational. A witness called 911 and I called Ed to tell him what happened.
I requested the ambulance and they extracted me from the passenger side. Took me to Winchester Med where they did xrays and CT scans. My wonderful Angel Ann was there and helped me through just like always (do you all know how wonderful she is?).
I have an ugly case of whiplash, a concussion which is just more annoying than anything and a HORRIBLY strained back...it's just a mess.
I am pumped full of fabulous narcotics and such...but, I dread tomorrow morning and what pain it might bring. We are driving a "spare" car of my dad's right now... I cannot believe I totalled our only remaining vehicle...
I just wanted to update you all personally so that you know I am in fact okay. Thank you to EVERYONE for their prayers and kind words/thoughts, etc. Special thanks to Ann...you are the best my dear and I love you!

Glad you are OK. Wrecks are pretty serious business. It could be a lot worse. Cars can be replaced but you can't. Get better soon! Prayers that you won't feel too much pain tomorrow.
