hi all,  i have not posted much lately, but i lurk....  I had my surgery almost 4 yrs ago... maintained my goal, actually a few below and love that.... but have had constant issues with my vitamins & iron... cant keep them down, the pain they cause is unbearable, etc...     now i am turning 45 in may and my eyes are going and mena..(can even finish that word!!) is creeping up i think... it could be the vit. deficiency, but my eye sight, my energy level, my moods... and my cycle is a bit of a mess.

anyone else have any of these issues....  ?

i have talked to my dr.s   they say.... "take iron, take this other iron... take this other one then..."   NONE of them work....   they eye dr. prescribed bi-focals...... and the gyno.. well, she said that it 'could be peri-menap..."  and the gastric byp surgeon.... he says..... take this, that and see me in 6 months...

ugggh!

so, yeah.... i fit in the size clothing i always wanted.... but i feel HORRIBLE most of the time......

sorry to wine....... (want some cheese with that whine...?)  lol

You are not whinning!  I have not have your issues but was just wondering if you tried liquid vitamins?  Yes, they usually taste nasty but we do absorb them better!

Thanks Tammy....  I am at least getting my calcium in, as I take so many tums a day!!

I will look into the liquid vit.

I wish you all the best with your baby.  I always wanted to have a child!   You are so blessed.

hope you have a wonderful day.

Thank you so much!  I have been taking quite a few tums myself...and I never dothat!

If you can't find or stomach the liquid...try the chewables.  Bariatric Advantage has a great tasting tropical passion fruit iron one...it is what I take and my levels are on the higher end of normal.

Calcium is great...I take two chewables a day for that!...plus two prenatals, a sublingual b-12 and an a and d, too.  Just keep trying!

I wrote to the folks at bariatrics advantage to see if i could get some samples...  i'd even pay for them, just cant afford to keep buying these bottles and then wasting them!

I've all but given up.  some days i wish i were still heavy!    i am currently only taking tums and trying to nourish myself with food... but most days i dont even want to eat!!

jeeesh, i sound pitiful and dont mean to, it is just painful to eat... when i eat i run to the bathroom all goes through me, and when i dont eat my stomach burns.....

and i wonder if my lack of vision is due to the vit. deficiency....and i am spending all this $$ on new glasses because i am deficient...

hmmmmmmm?

Your frogett signature warms my heart!!!    I love the VA web site... thanks.

hugs,
J.

BA and a company that I have never ordered from called Celebrate Vitamins both will send free samples if you ask.  It is usually one or two of each flavor.  I recommend calling and not writing...speak to someone and let them know what you are experiencing.  They may have some different ideas!

((((((((((JILL)))))))))))  I'm so sorry to hear you are having issues with the vit and eye sight.  I don't know much about deficiency to know if they are direclty related, but suspect it doesn't help.  Definatley contact bariatric advantage for the chewables.  Maybe they will be easier on you.  I know that I read somewhere that you can pull up your iron stores by taking Vitalady's Tender Iron.  I apparently works wonders.  I have never ordered this from her so I have no idea what is special about it, but thought I would pass along the info at least!

Have your vitamin D tested on your next blood test.  If you are deficient, and many people are, you can take a liquid emulsified Vitamin D (must be refrigerated) that my doctor's office sells for a reasonable price.  I have been treated for a Vitamin D deficiency that my nurse practitioner discovered about a year ago. I did notice that my energy level and mood improved.  I was under 25 and minimum level is 32.  I continue to be monitored for this.  There was an excellent program on The People's Pharmacy (that can be purchased) that really explained all about Vitamin D deficiencies.
