Had my heart procedure today...
I went in this morning at 630 am for the heart procedure. They did a TEE, transesophageal echocardiogram. Of course it wasn't as bad as I wanted to believe it would have been especially when I've had this procedure done several times before. The throat spray is actually the worse and I was given great amounts of Versed and Dilaudid. So no pain.
But... after the procedure and reviewing the video tape of it, there is no way around having to have surgery. It is my cardiologists opinion that it can probably be repaired but the cardiac thoracic surgeon will have to determine that when in there. He wasn't able to determine if they will be able to use the robot or if they will have to cut the breast bone open.
We spoke in depth before the drugs kicked in and I think I have decided how I want the surgery. I'm leaning towards having it open for a variety of reasons. After the procedure, he spoke to my mom and me. More so her since I was coming out of the drugs. He was going to be re-reviewing the tape with the surgeon he's recommended and then the surgeons office will be contacting me this week. It seems as though the surgeon will be reviewing the tape, figuring out what he's got to do and then I will meet with him for the consultation and pre op things.
I'm not sure how long this process will take but I want to have this done before the end of March. Spring is coming and now after my RNY and losing 135 lbs... I want to LIVE!! Thanks to everyone who has messaged me or written or prayed. They are all very appreciated.

Thanks so much Sharon. I was referred to the cardiac thoracic surgeon by my cardiologist and from what I've heard and researched, he's one of the best cardiac thoracic surgeons in the state. That does make me a bit more relaxed. I don't know about being brave but I am defintely trying to make it.
Thanks so much!
