I can't believe it...
I had to laugh at this because I think it happens to all of us at one time or another.
For me the funniest thing was when we went to Thanksgiving the year I had surgery and I was walking across the yard and my own mother had to ask my aunt who that skinny girl walking across the yard was...my own mother who lives right next door to me!
1. I got the vendor comments, too...I took them as compliments because I also got the "looks" from the men as well.
2. Hubby has NEVER told me that...he just asks if I am happy...which to me is the same thing. I have seen the look of concern in his face when my collar bone sticks out or he sees the "chicken wing" on my back or the veins ion my neck but he also knows that I see my surgeon regurlary and am doing what I am supposed to be doing so deep down he knows it is OK.
3. Sorry your family member made a hurtful comment...again, we have probably all been there. My only advice to that one would be to stop and try and look in from the outside. Yes, Lauren, you have changed. We all change. Some for the good...some for the bad. Some are lucky and get in that middle zone of how much they change. Change is a fact of life...some people just can't deal with it. Some are on medications and need to have them adjusted, some get a sense of "look at me...I'm da ****" attitude, some just simply come out of their shell and become a social butterfly. All I would say is stop and look at how you HAVE changed and determine if YOU are happy with it. If not...make more changes...if so...tell those that are negative to bug off! But you do have to face the fact that you have indeed changed!
4. I think the neck and upper chest is always the bony partof us post WLS. As you get farther out you should "even" out some and look a little different...but it should still be skinny!
You are doing great on your journey and I know you will continue to.
