Comments are starting to come my way too.  What amazes me is that people have no concept of what healthy is.  They complain when you are to big then they complain you are getting to skinny.  Make up your mind.  Any BMI above 27 increases your risks for health problems.  I don't care what people think, they can all kiss it.  What matters to me is that I have a healthy veiw of what a healthy weight for me is.  I know what my range is and as long as I hit that range I will be happy.  For me, I know there is always going to be someone who has something to say.  It is what my own inner feelings are beleifs are is important to me.

I have had the same thoughts - you can't have it both ways people!!  I'm very happy and feel healthy and that's all that matters!

Lauren don't let them get you down.  I kind of just comment that the doctor knows where I should be and depending on where I am (right there, still need to lose some more) etc.  I comment to that affect.

I had to laugh at this because I think it happens to all of us at one time or another.
For me the funniest thing was when we went to Thanksgiving the year I had surgery and I was walking across the yard and my own mother had to ask my aunt who that skinny girl walking across the yard was...my own mother who lives right next door to me!

1.  I got the vendor comments, too...I took them as compliments because I also got the "looks" from the men as well.

2.  Hubby has NEVER told me that...he just asks if I am happy...which to me is the same thing.  I have seen the look of concern in his face when my collar bone sticks out or he sees the "chicken wing" on my back or the veins ion my neck but he also knows that I see my surgeon regurlary and am doing what I am supposed to be doing so deep down he knows it is OK.

3.  Sorry your family member made a hurtful comment...again, we have probably all been there.  My only advice to that one would be to stop and try and look in from the outside.  Yes, Lauren, you have changed.  We all change.  Some for the good...some for the bad.  Some are lucky and get in that middle zone of how much they change.  Change is a fact of life...some people just can't deal with it.  Some are on medications and need to have them adjusted, some get a sense of "look at me...I'm da ****" attitude, some just simply come out of their shell and become a social butterfly.  All I would say is stop and look at how you HAVE changed and determine if YOU are happy with it.  If not...make more changes...if so...tell those that are negative to bug off!  But you do have to face the fact that you have indeed changed!

4.  I think the neck and upper chest is always the bony partof us post WLS.  As you get farther out you should "even" out some and look a little different...but it should still be skinny!

You are doing great on your journey and I know you will continue to.

Hi Lauren,

I also think you look terrific! The most important opinion is how do you feel and feel you look? That's what counts. Opinions are like @#$ holes, everyone's got one.

You have been given great advice by your husband. Eat a burger. lol. j/k step away from mcdonald and shove that hamburger where the sun doesn't shine on him. lol

I think you are gorgeous. I am sorry a family member hurt you. Our family does not realize the power they have over our feelings.
