Wow only 3 more weeks before my surgery. I would like to know what everyone found most helpful, to have on hand before and after surgery? Were there anything that you brought that was not worth the money? I dont want to go over board with things, but any suggestions will be welcomed.

My only recommendation is to have a small supply stock of things on hand.  You don't know how your tastes will change.  I would recommend SF popsicles, greek yogurt, crystal light, cottage cheese, chicken broth, skim milk and herb tea.

I would also advise you to get a flu shot and start taking your vitamins.  You might need to stop your vitamins a week before surgery though.  Get yourself as healthy as possible between now and then.

Clean your house, pay all your bills, think of where you might want to sleep your first few nights home from the hospital.  Laying flat in a bed is still hard for me.  I have to prop myself up with pillows.  Make sure the rest of your family is set for school lunches and dinners, etc.

Think about what you want to say to the people you love the most.  I wrote each of my children, my husband, and my parents long love letters.   This more than anything helped my cope with the nervousness I felt about surgery.

I hope some of this helps.

Oh yes, the letter thing really touched my heart. I will do that. God has blessed me to be a stay at home mom so my house was a main concern, however my family assured me that they will keep it clean they all say I have a cleaning disorder, so that will be hard to just let them do the cleaning. I was going to purchase a full body pillow, do you think this is a good ideal?

oh yes, Body pillow are a God Send.  I sleep with a minimum of 4 pillows every night.  I like the body pillow but I also like the smaller ones to to cram into different body spaces for support.

We have the same surgeon.  You will be on a 10 day full liquid diet.  The information they give you during the full liquid stage.  I can not rememeber everything I ate, but I know I had yogurt (with 5g of sugar or less) SF popsicles, SF jello and SF pudding.  I used Profect protien vials.  One vial had 50g of protien bullets and I would drink half in the morning and half in the afternoon.  Only about 3oz.  They are nasty, but I heard if you mix with water, it taste better.  I still have about 14 left if you want them.  I have moved on to other Protiens.  When I moved to mushies this is usually what I ate:

Fat Free Refried Beans, with 2% cheddar cheese and a dab of low fat sour cream.

Canneli (sp?) beans, speghetti sauce and a dab of presto. (watch the sauce. I found one at Weagmens that is gluten free and has 7g of sugar per serving which is like 1/2 cup. I only use a tablespoon so not getting 7g of sugar)

Canneli beans again with small amount of velveta cheese and a dab of skim milk (my kids rave over this)

chicken is a can with mayo

tuna in a can with mayo

Talpia baked with seasoned pepper and lemon and herb seasoning. Canned carrots in dash of margriene, seasoned with seasoned pepper and garlic and wine seasoning from the melting pot.

I do the same thing with mushrooms, but I fry them in olive oil and used the same seasoning as above.

lowfat cottage cheese. great protien. 11g!!

low fat yogurt with 5g of sugar or less.

low fat laughing cow cheese (babybell or the wedges)

If I do crackers, on a rare occasion, I use All Bran Whole Wheat crackers by Kellog. Great source of fiber. A serving is like 18 crakcers. I only have 5. they are small.

Hummus

I agree though, I do not eat rgular yogurt anymore. I do plain 0% greek yogurt.  I buy choboni.  It has 18 g of protien.  I put flaored splenda in it for sweeting.  I use eight french vanillia or mocha.

Also, another savor was some tasteless benifiber.  I would put it in my protien drinks.  I think had about 4 10lb children after surgery, and it was a killer.

Cannellini Beans are Italian white Kidney beans.  Low fat and a whole bunch of protien.  About 13g per serving

The delete above was this.  Posted it to my response not Tammy's.

Melissa,
By all means the protein will be very much apprecited, also do you attend any support groups? It is getting to be a reality for me now. I saw the new Wegmans will be making a visit next week. I love beans of all kinds, however cottage cheese is another matter.
