Low iron

Hello all,
I had my 3 year check up with my surgeon the other week. It is so hard to believe that it has been 3 years! Wow!!!!
Anyway, my iron level has slowly dropped in the past 3 years (and yes, he has had me on iron the entire time) and it does not seem to be getting any better.  I got my lab results in the mail just the other day. I still have a low iron count , and I sitll have a low Vit. D count plus now my absorbtion rate is low as well. They sent a precription to me for the iron that he wants me to start taking. I have not been able to find it any where. The precription if for
ferrous fumarate-vitamin c 200-125 mg taken 2 times a day. The precription says that I can get it OTC. I have looked at Target, Wally world, The vitamin shop, and Puritians Pride. I can not find this specific vitamin any where. Does anyone know where I can find this? I will call my surgeons office if I can not find it any where soon. I just hate to try to contact them because they are so hard to get in touch with.
Thanks for any and all information that you can give me....

Cath

Cath,

Look for the brand name of Vitron -C it the one that has what you are looking for. CVS online carries it, and may carry it in the store. Call one of the pharmacies in your area to see if they carry it.

Walgreens carries it and you may also consider a chewable Vit C pill when you are taking it...this aides in the absorbtion!  I had low levels, too and began taking two prenatals (one in the AM, one in the PM) with an RX one in the afternoon.  I took a Vit C pill with the afternoon dose and my levels were on the high end of normal within 8 weeks.  Good luck!
