Hi guys!  Do any of you wear a medical alert ID like a bracelet>  It seems like a good idea.  If you have one, or if you want one, what would you put on it?

My recent trip to the ER got me thinking about this.

Hi I have one and wear it 24/7 It says on it Gastric Bypass No NG Tube without scope. I didn't  want to wear it at first but what if I was in a accident they would have no idea.
I bought mine on Ebay.

I have a couple.  All say the same thing, just one is more "dressy" than others.  Coming from a medics (I am a paramedic) view...do not get a dressy one for daily wear.  I only wear that one two or three times a year!  You need a basic one that is easy for a medic to spot in the event of an emergency if you  get one.

Mine says:

Hypoglycemic
Gastric Bypass
no blind ng tube
no n saids
must carry water at all times
allergic to: then my various drug allergies

The bit about the water allows me to carry my own cooler.water bottle in most places that normally doesn't allow it.  Examples are: movies, Busch Gardens, public buildings (such as a court house) etc.

I purchased one from my local jewelers and they did the engraving for free.  That one was about $40.00.  I also have one from Things remembered and they also did the engraving and that was about $100.00.  I have my "dressy" one that I got from wrist candy and I had to take that one to be engraved.  All together that one was about $130.00.  You can get them really cheap or spend a fortune but they are an excellent idea.  You can also get a necklace but again from a medics view I recommend the bracelet.

Let me know if you want help finding one!

An NSAID is a non steroidal anti inflammatory medicine. It is found in asprins, naproxens & ibuprofens, (ex. motrin, advil, etc). We are not allowed to take them due to them being a large cause of ulcers and our pouches already being sensitive.

They also "eat" holes in our new pouches if used too often.  It is just not worth it to me...I will stick to tylenol!  You gave a great description!
