For the love of Lisa
First of all, I would like to applaud Lisa for her recent post. Thank you for entrusting us with your inner most thoughts & feelings. Not too many of us would be that candid & I think it was very brave of you to bare your soul like that. You're an amazing woman, Lisa!
With that said, I would now like to address the masses here, on this wonderful Virginia Board.
One of our own NEEDS our help. I realize that everyone is feeling the pressures of the sucking economy. One way or another, we're getting screwed finanacially. However, if we don't band together, Lisa & her family will lose their house. It's that simple. So here's what I propose.
I would like to establish a fund on behalf of Lisa & her family. I will even pledge the first $100. Her hubby is still recovering from his injuries but is supposedly going to be back on duty sometime in April. However, it's not looking like the mortgage company is going to be willing to hold off any longer.
If any of you are interested in contributing... no matter what the amount... please PM me or email me at [email protected]. All donations will be kept private, or even anonimous if that would be your preference. I realize many of us are going through our own rough times, but to my knowledge, none of us are about to become homeless. This family has been through enough already, as you well know. Let's see how much of a difference a bunch of people can make collectively.
PS...yes, she knows I'm doing this.

Ann, this is a fantastic idea. I had actually had similar thoughts while reading her note earlier.
I could not give very much, but I could give something. Do you have further details on how to go about doing that? Address or website or something?
Also, another thought I had was, "what about non-financial help?" At the end of the note, there was something about not being able to get to the doctor because Lisa's husband is not able to take care of the children, due to his accident. The FIRST thing that popped into my head was, "hey, I'd go babysit; Reston isn't all that far from Purcellville." (well, in actuality, it's about an hour away, but I'd still do it! (well, if I could work it around my pesky day job) :) ) Since we're mostly in the same financial boat, one way or the other, maybe someone could help this way (or something similar to it) where they might not be able to help with money.
Big kudos to you for taking the initiative to put this out there.
Julie

Sweetie, the only "details" I have is that I volunteer to be the collection point. I don't have any kind of bank account established or anything like that. Just from ya'lls wallets to my mailbox to Lisa's hands. I think it is very sweet of you to want to help & ANY amount you can spare will be a step in the right direction.
I will leave it up to Lisa about what her non-monetary needs might be. Your offer to babysit is very sweet, but she doesn't live in Purcellville anymore. They moved to Charles Town, WV in June of last year, so I think the drive would be a bit more than an hour.
If you would pop me a PM or email, I will gladly give you the address of where to send your donation. Thanks for jumping on the band wagon, Julie. It will mean the world to them for sure.

My dearest brothers & sisters of OH,
Ya'll are amazing. I've gotten a few PMs from ya'll asking where to send your donations & to whom the checks should be made out to. Also, I corrected my email address in my original post. Lisa is gonna be sooooo touched. Thank you very much. Let's keep it going, ok? Even the smallest amount adds up.
As the donations begin arriving, I will kidnap her for a lunch & give the checks to her then. I'm sure she will be needing to be kidnapped soon...lol. If any of you would like to join us, I'll post when I'm gonna grab her. We'll probably meet at Olive Garden in Winchester. They're willing to run her soup through a blender plus it's closer to home for her in case Ed or one of the kids needs her to get back home quickly.
We are some kind of wonderful family, aren't we? Thank you.
