WELCOME!  dr's tran and halmi did my RNY march last year.  they are awesome.  I think i ordered a protein sampler from www.ibariatric.com.  Also there are whey protein mixes at target & walmart as well.  its kinda trial and error on those, everyone's taste (and pouch) is different. You will find a lot of helpful and knowledgeable people on this board.  Are you going to do a liquid diet before the surgery?  Also, i'd follow all of the drs/nutritionist's guidelines once home, they DO know best.  again, welcome, nice to meet ya.  lys

Welcome!!  I had my surgery with Dr. Halmi last month!  You are in great hands!   Like Lys said - it is a trial and error thing.  I'm still trying different ones till I decide on a specific one!   We're here if you need anything or just want to chat!

Welcome! This is a great board of people that know almost everything! I am still learning so much. Feel free to jump in and post and ask questions. If you haven't started exercising, I would do that. Wish you the best of luck on this awesome journey!

Try a sampler pack from one of the bariatric sites. Your taste buds will go through some major changes. I found that my likes and dislikes in food, smells and flavors have changed through out my journey.
Good luck!!!

Ditto to what everyone said about the Sampler Pack.  Britney, the nutritionist, will also have samples for you.  I would just recommend you research and read as much as you can, so that you have a realistic expectation of what's going to happen.  I lurk on the complications, regrets, post-op and revision boards.  It was scary at first reading some of the stuff - but when i saw how little new stuff is posted on the regrets board - made me feel alot better.  I would also recommend a in person support group.  Talking Face to Face with people who have been through WLS was really helpful.  Partlow is near Lake Anna isn't it?  I'm not sure how long it takes you to get to Fredericksburg, but there is a support group here that meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  If you're interested - let me know and I can point you in the right direction to get more information.  Good Luck - Dr. Halmi/Tran will be doing my surgery in about a week and a half!

Wow that would be great,  I would like to attend one of the support groups to meet new people who have ad the surgery.  I have read so may things on the RNY and the Lapband.  I had first though about the lapband, but changes my mind quickly.  I am excited and ready to have my surgery.  Keep me posted on how yours goes in a few weeks, and good luck!!!!

YEAY!!  It will be here before you know it.  I got a welcome packet about four weeks prior to surgery that outlined the pre-op diet and early post-op diet.  I'm assuming your doctor will do something similar.  I suggest that you try and get your hands on as many samples of protein's that you can.  Your tastes will be different after surgery and I tried many things before I found one I really liked.  :)

Good luck and welcome.  I am pretty new too and am still figuring things out.  This board is a great place to learn and be "accepted".

First of all...welcome and congrats on your surgery date!  It will be here before you know it!  I would advise upping your protein now to help aide in healing but do not stock up on any one kind.  Your tastes will most likely change drastically after surgery.  Get stocked up on SF popsicles, jello and pudding.  Start exercising as you can and start eating as healthy as you can.  You will do fantastic!
